I've never realized how upsetting grammatical errors are to some people. I just figure when someone produces a typo that they were thinking faster than they could type. Or that they were in a hurry. I'll have to try to type cautiously as not to upset the fragile state one might be in when reading posts on TA.

Thanks, guess it's faaar from perfect though... i use wrong words all the time! it's really hard to know couse in Swedish (and Danish too?) we have the same word for a lot of things so then you presume it's the same in English (when you don't know any other word).... guess that can look weird sometimes but i hope they understand anyway

It's not so much on message boards that it annoys me. It's mostly things like incorrect signs and such.
Also, seeing my buddy fuck up all the time on college papers that I proofread for him. It pisses me off because he got accepted and I didn't.

Anyway, one thing that I think is interesting to analyze is the shortened english used for road signs and whatnot (as in how it makes sense even if you leave helping verbs out etc.), but not when they shorten the english by taking out the wrong words! One example I can think of that drives me CRAZY is a sign in the shuttle that I take to class that says, "No standing front white line while bus is in motion." I guess it's kind of hard to explain, but to me it seems like the obvious choice, if they really needed to save two letters, would be to take out the last "is" so it would read, "No standing front of white line while bus in motion." What the shit is "front white line" supposed to mean?

Another one is run-on sentences without punctuation that I see everywhere on message boards it gets quite annoying reading whole paragraphs without commas periods semi-colons colons whatever it just seems like someone is writing on a third-grade level i just sit there and think shouldn't you be in bed li'l boy?

WTF is with people and "addicting"? Addicting is not an adjective!! It's addictive!!!!
