I'm a perfect mix addict, so I listen to the next track and try to beatmatch it as good as I can till the mix time comes,
if its a quick beatmatch I tend to mess around with the EQs and effects on my CDJs.

Personaly, i think hammering effects is lame, because it's get's boring and annoying and usually sounds worse than you think...

Lately i'm mixing more Full on and Psy Trance, i'm taking as much time as i need to make a good beatmatch and i usually have plenty of extra time so i sometimes add baselines from the other track at buildups or silent parts, sometimes playing with the EQ, and that's as much as you can do, you should think more of how to build your set and if you know the tracks well when exacly you want to start the mix in order to make it a clean one and not force it.

Agreed...this is especially true for trance tunes that have two breakdowns and have plenty of transition points in the middle. A lot of songs that have 2 breakdowns have an ample amount of phrases in between the two breakdowns where you can easily mix out of them without worrying about clashing melodies. It doesn't sound bad at all, so long as you do it in the right place -- I do it with lots of songs very often, and it lets me use more tunes.

Also i blend alot of tracks together for like 5-7 mins, depending on track lengths. I drop accapellas. I basically just do what I want & try out new ideas & just do what comes to mind. If it doesnt work, it doesnt work.

Theres shit loads of stuff you can do. All you have to do is be a little imaginative. Combine stuff, come up with new stuff. Theres no rules & regualtions that say dj like this, or like that.

So just do what you want and have a good time, but dont over do it. Sometimes: Less Is More.

well said. Not that I personally mix out yet, I don't even have tables right now lol.. but yeah it's all about creativity!
