fleming was credited for discovering penicillin. but it would have not been possible w/o Pasteur's work. Pasteur made the connection between disease and germs. In fact penicilin was discovered in 1896 by a french student (Ernest Duchesne), who had discovered the substance, which was a mold that killed bacteria. but his work was ignored and forgotten until Fleming discovered it whilst working of the germ Staph. So there is a bit of controversy about who discovered penicillin. so therefore i conclude that Pasteur discovered the germ connection. so therefore it is a bit of a difficult answer as to who discovered penicillin.
it doesnt matter anyway. penicillin will be useless soon anyway....
the way germs travel these days anyways.
