do you even know how final scratch works coz it sure as hell looks like you don't have a clue.

Personally i don't have any problem with it at all. Infact I am well for it. Those who i've seen in various other threads claiming that the sound quality is worse are speaking out of their arse. In the last month i've seen Paul van Dyk 3 times, and the sound quality of every one of his sets has been identical to the DJ's who have played before and after him.

Some advantages:

1. Instead of searching through numerous crates for a record, you get to scroll down a playlist on you mac laptop. This is obviously 10x more convinient.

2. You don't need to lug around with you 100's of records and CDR's. Plus, you can bring more music with you than you normally would just incase.

3. The 2 template records are going to be perfect everytime. What i mean by this, is that you never again have to put up with a warped record. You get a perfect feel for the vinyl every time.

4. No wear and tear on your records. Especially your more precious and rare ones.

5. It's linux based. Those who would worry about it all going wrong on the night should fear not This isn't shitty windows were dealing with here, this is linux and it is the daddy of operating systems; stable as fuck

So what's not to like?

just read the oct mixmag, the interview with PvD, and they said he used a laptop! i was like what the f? im intruiged by this idea. does he have a mix board still? is everything controled by the computer? how does it actually work? how do you use it?

so many questions.
anybody got a link for info?

when i see a dj, i do like the way the interact with a vinyl, it just seems so natural for them, and makes it entertaining for me. i only recently recognized the sound difference between vinyl(Analog) and cd(digital). wouldnt a ripped vinyl have the digital feel to it? just my thought
no experience.

ergg is it really that hard to understand? final scratch is exactly the same as spinning records normally except instead of bringing 100 records with you to a gig you take 2 records and a laptop. the laptop has all the mp3's that you have ripped from your records beforehand. thats final scratch in a nutshell, if you need a bit more info then go do the logical thing visit the damn final scratch website www.finalscratch.com. would you like me to feed you guys next? how bout i buy you a colostimy bag so you dont have to get up to take a shit?

I'm all for it, judging on what I've read here, it's just another step forward technologically. I will always love vinyl, but this is the first thing available that provides advantages to records without creating any disadvantages. I think purists who don't embrace new methods or at least take time to learn about them should get their heads out of their asses.

ermm im pretty sure from reading through the thread you can pick up what this is about. i mean fuck he asked do you still use a mixer ffs even though it was said djing with final scratch is the same as djing normally. i mean how many time do people have to ask the same question? do people really need to be linked to the finalscratch website? i would have thought the most common thing to do is use google if oyu want info on a certain product that way you get the products website with all the info you need + a message board dedicated to the product. but then again i have learnt that people are fucking idiots when it comes to finding things out for themselves....

Do you need special needles for this because it would seem to me that if you are only using final scratch for your set, you could probably get away with using cheap Stanton 500s and the output wouldn't be affected.

Now, before somebody jumps all over me with an obvious answer, yes I do realize that if you plan on playing other records in addition to using final scratch, you wouldn't be able to use this trick.

Because i got annoyed at how people are unable to read what has already been said or look up information for themselves you two have taken it upon yourselves to flame me. well you the dude who thinks anyone who doesnt drive is stupid has shown me how ignorant he is and the dude who called me a twat has shown me he is unable to to argue properly with someone with that one line insult im done now.

This is a music discussion forum where people argue, debate and here's one, ask questions. The guy asked a question and you flamed him. Maybe he didn't read every post in this thread? Did that maybe occur to you as to WHY he asked how final scratch works?
