Arrow High Speed Ultra here

I guess Strike maybe talking about ultra high speed from bell, which i currently have at home

the installation was a pain in the butt , but after they got everything setup it was smooth sailing, i agree DSL has its issues, but the speeds i get is awesome, no caps, i can download at 300-380k and upload speed is 70-90k

its a 3 mbps line, but its better than waiting on rogers, it took me sometimes forever on rogers.

Could also be the distance to the Telco CO (central office; a big ass phone switch).

There is a 5 km max from a CO before the digital signal starts to degridate; after 5 km you could get slower speeds etc. etc.
(Unless they've changed something in the last couple years, this should still be true).

Ask them how far your CO is from you location...

cogeco was good.
bell was good.
rogers has only been problems for me. I'm getting massive packet loss, and all they do is give me the same generic response about how they're trying to fix it as soon as possible. Some technician called me and told me to call the 1-888 number and have them do something to fix it, but after waiting 15mins on the line, they told me they couldn't do anything. I asked why the technician called me then? and they didn't know.. wtf kind of customer support is that.

I think i'm gonna be switching to bell... anyone know if the ultra high speed edition is worth it?

I had it in windsor..and I wasnt too impressed with it. I had dsl 2 years ago..and it was awesome. But now, dsl is getting faded along with cable. Even though they guarantee a private line, its still slow as fuck at times. IMO, if you're not saving any money, stick with cable...you can avoid service charges and all that garbage.

Though I heard Primus is a little better...

well this is what i get
i don't think it's ultra high speed
because i sure don't remember signing up for it
lol

345 KB/s is physically impossible on a 1.5 Mbit line as Diginut said. Therefore, if you're getting these speeds but not paying the $60+ price (for Sympatico Ultra) consider yourself lucky cuz the billing department fucked up.
