not that it was particularly breathtaking, or spectacular IMO, but for me atleast, it was really nice to hear a lot of songs I have never heard before. Ofcourse, the many missing IDs in this tracklist could be due to the fact that I haven't gotten any new music in 2 months, but whatever. I liked his set.
I finally found a tiny corner of some piss/beer/puke soaked couch to squat on.5 seconds when this total DOUCHE sits down next to me, pulls me aside, and starts trying to get me to leave the couch
It went something like this:
fucking dumbass shit
I was thouroughly annoyed after that point. Im sick of all these slimy douchebags who think they are gods gift to the universe...the crowd was full of them last night |
I had a similar experience in front of the DJ booth. As usual, it was packed tight and some Notorious BIG wannabe pushes his way through the crowd to get to the DJ booth to tell the bouncer to let some girls he was with up on stage. There was no room to move and he's up in my face telling me to move. I say, "where in the hell do you expect me to go?" (I'm leaning against this speaker box and there are people on every side of me.) I continue, "I can't move man, it's physically impossible." Well, after about a minute he tries to pick me up and place me somewhere but by that time figures out that there's nowhere to go so he continues pushing his way through the crowd. He comes back a couple of minutes later and I can hear him behind me talking shit.
Calling this guy a douche bag would only be an understatement. WTF are people thinking when they come out to Glow? Are they really that fucking insecure that they have to start so much shit? Maybe it was just a case of penis envy since this fat f#@k probably has to use a cosmetic mirror to even get a small glimpse of his. I dunno.
Otherwise, I thought that it was a great night! I got there earlier than usual and was privileged to hear Dan Sampson spin an amazing set... I thought that it was just as good (perhaps better) than Tiesto's!!! The Lexicon Avenue Remix of DM's "Only When I Lose Myself" was definitely a highlight for me!

It's about time someone mentioned him. If you havent figured it out yet, Dan rules. Much respect.
As for the rest of the night...extremely crowded and too many a**holes. On a positive note, Tiesto threw it down hard. Everyone that mistook hard trance for cheese...maybe you need to broaden your musical spectrum a little. Everyone that said his set was different for the last time you heard him...maybe you should put Magik 7 in your cd player and set it on repeat and then you'll be happy. I'm tired of all the Tiesto haters. If you knew anything about him as a DJ then you would know that his sets are constantly different unless he's on some kind of cd tour or something. His fall and winter sets are usually complete opposites of his spring and summer ones. Instead of criticizing him maybe you should try respecting his ability to be different once in a while.
I absolutely loved his set. Full of energy, bangin, and totally unexpected. Hearing Accessive Rhythm - Activate totally made my night. Let's not forget that he was voted (by millions of people) as the #1 DJ of the Year and not one night at Glow. If saturday night was an indication of where his sets are gonna be goin throughout the winter, then i can't wait to hear more.
As for all the noobs...let's not forget that we were all noobs once. I chatted with some guy at the bar who was there for the first time. He saw Tiesto a few days ago in Houston and flew to DC just to see him again. That's pretty damn cool and he had only good things to say about the place.
I was there with my best friend and clubbing partner Brian (vtecjunkie) and I met a lot of TAs but I forgot names already. I do remember kid nyce, politicsofdancin, srezic, and beema. The guy who has a pic of me and all his crew on his desktop, good meeting you and all your people again. Send me a PM. Jose, Cheyanne, Amy, Joanna, Jeanette, and all the heads at the hotel...i had a blast and it wouldn't have been the same without you guys. Unfortunately I probably won't be able to make it for AvB but hopefully this time it will be sooner than 6 months. Peace.
