Those people who say that trance is a dead are probably fans of the trance we had 5 years ago. Im just new in the trance, I think it's completely alive and kicking.

Just watch at the number of livesets that contain trance tracks, just watch at the number of people going to parties. Trance is getting more and more fans. If it's getting better is another question. I don't know, Im just a new kid

So techno is dead, because a majority of underground clubs bump that but for some reason thousands of DJs who spin it arent recognized by DJ mags poll(Save for the major names)? So acid jazz doesnt exist? cause dj mag doesnt have an acid jazz dj on there Oh my, so many genres must have become extinct last week! Please oh great one of quantitative statistics please explain mean distributions and bell curve theory...sorry dude i don't need a scientific explanation as to how polls work, all i can say is that polls are used as a guage of public opinion...and you're right its all opinion, thats why as i have been here for over 3 years i have seen many posts proclaiming the "death of trance". As far as trance becoming mainstream...in europe and asia maybe but not in the US, I live in the largest city in the US and I (and anyone in the NY forums) can tell you that trance dj's here are few and far between, so your point which may be relevant in other parts of the world is completely relative and holds no water here.

Ranking dj's is like ranking anything else that has not real quantitative aspect. Its a qualitative subjective judgement and always will be.

And angry..d00d i'm far from angry, ask anyone on this board who knows me..swamper, redeye, ian, tempest, tta etc..the list goes on, I am not angry in general, just with dumb posts and lamers...


The whole point professor is that there are no definitive ways of proving trance is dying or is alive and kicking, but there are indicators...and its just possible that its popularity (ie polls) is relative to its overall health. I could care less if you agree with my synopsis, because last i looked you weren't grading my papers or paying my salary..

No doubt trance is going mainstream. Not in the USA maybe, but in many other parts of the world. Anyway, becoming more mainstream has its pros n cons.. one of its pros being that it will widen its fan base, and more people will be listening to trance.

This would probably result in more up n coming producers, new ideas, collaborations etc. which would be only too good for the trance scene.

As for the cons, I'm leaving it to the rest of u guys to give your opnions on how this might be bad for trancE??

The genre might be going mainstream, but the music itself is always evolving... for the better IMO. It won't die folks! Not just yet!
