Tiesto said about mp3's and their availability on the net
I would have to say that this whole matter makes him look
like a hypocrite

On the one hand he says this:
Question: What do you think of the about audioformat MP3?
I really like it, because specially in The States and also here in
Sweden it's been good for my name because my CDs are hard to get here.

Question: What do you think when people download your songs illegaly?
Is it bad because you loose royalty money?
Well, I'm not in there for the money. I'm really glad, actually honored, that people download my music. That's a compliment I think.

On the other a letter is sent asking webmasters to remove ALL
BHR content ???

So which is it, Tjis? Make up your mind (and I think we all know
that you are not in it for the money )

and yes, I agree with all of u that albums should not be
available for dload

i know two things. before mp3s i loved trance, but i was never sure what to buy. after mp3s.

i dropped 2grand on turn tables, and almost a grand in under 2 months on records. why? because i hear them on mp3 and feel i must have them on vinyl so i can mix with them.

two, in an interview with tiesto, they asked him if he cared about mp3s. he said i like them, and i am honored that people download my music. he continued to say that it is hard to get his cds in some countries, and that he is not in the industry for the money so he is happy mp3's exist.

maybie the managment should listen to their start dj/producer!!!

It should be noted that just because Tiesto is part (?) owner of Black Hole doesn't mean that he makes any type of decisions for the label. He very well might have just made a large investment in the company for monetary returns.

Invisible Grin YOU GUYS DIDNT HEAR????

I can answer ALL of your questions with one statement.

I guess you guys didnt hear that LARS ULRICH is the new owner of Black Hole Records!!! He bought it from Tiesto last month!!

But on a more serious note, i have to totally agree with Aviston about spinning live.... I honestly don't think ANY DJ's make shit for money selling CD's in the states.... its the venues and the events that bring the money. Rock bands i can understand.

And on the whole Napster and file-sharing issue, for some reason everyone overlooks one MAJOR part of the copyright law.... IT IS LEGAL FOR YOU TO DOWNLOAD MUSIC FOR YOURSELF... what is illegal is for you to re-distribute it at a price... but who honestly does that? a couple of people? I've probably burned over 500 CD's this last year (all trance), and didn't sell 1 of them. So its all legal. (I actually went to the library and read the goddam law books!)

And everyone else on this thread is right! If it weren't for these friggin' Mp3's, most of us would never have HEARD of Tiesto..... and now, nobody else ever will!!

DJ Tiesto, may you Rest In Peace (RIP)

Would have never heard of Tiesto if it were for Mp3s

I also would not have heard any of Tiesto's music if it wasn't for Mp3s. Here in the states, many don't even know who Tiesto is. PVD and Paul Oakenfold are more well known. There is no stores overhere that carry any of Tiesto's albums. At least of what I know of. I've had many friends compliment Tiesto's sets and albums, and they ask me where they can get some of his stuff. I just tell them that the only place is the net. Now that I know of Tiesto, I am keeping up to see the next time that he is in South Florida for a set.

Its not....cause i talked with one of the webmsters @ trance.nu a week before.....the main reason for this was because i had posted a thread there where i said that i wanted to get in contact with people over MSN to share trance.....the webmaster then deleted my thread cause in their forum its not acceptable to share trance....i had alot of discussion with him about this and then he said that one of the main reasons to why they do this is because they get alot of attention from different labels and DJs because they dont upload trance....Blackhole for example sends them ALOT of unreleased stuff just to show their gratitude....
I also saw that DJ Tiesto mentioned theyr site in a interview in a newspaper...

So i guess we just have to live with blackhole running around closing our sites...well well...

Ok, Albums I GET, Singles I DONT GET, Livesets I DONT GET.

I understand that albums are fine but They cant take away our singles / livesets for many reasons.

* Singles are *THE* source for DJ's and Avid music buyers alike. Why the HELL would they want to take away (as someone said before) our preview of a song to buy etc.
* Livesets are like radio. As a DJ they also give me ideas of how i can improve my mixing, can preview any promo songs that are coming out, and can get a taste of whats goin on all around the world. It also gives DJ's / producers more coverage etc etc etc.

I could go on for AGES but i dont want to.

peace & trance

Yeah you actually got a huge point here....cause it doesnt matter if we have all the trax on InSearchOfSunrise (for example) as singles since Tiesto didnt mix them.....Since (i think) all of black holes CDs are mixed people would still buy them for several reasons:

*They want CDs to put on which wont have a baseline in start and end of each track
*They dont want a big silent gap between each track
*They want the trax on there which isnt possible to find on MP3....

They will still make money from all the vinyls they release....

I think it would be ok to ban all albums.....i wouldnt bother.....If i still wanted to DL the album....i would just ask some TA to Rip it for me....big deal

Peace

Exclamation

Latest news from Trance.nu:

Many thought that the introduction of MP3s would hurt the music industry. So far tge statistics show quite the opposite.

Numbers from Britain shows that there is 18% more records being sold this year than last year.

The 12inch vinyl market has grown 7% during April-June and 90% of vinyls being sold are dance-related.

Just felt you guys should se this
