I'm not very knowedgeable on mixers so someone please enlighten me. I always wonder why nobody suggests the Stanton VRM-10. Why is that? Is it too expensive? Not worth it? Complete garbage? All of the above?

Is it that the A&H mixers are like the 1200s are to turntables?

What's the deal?

Stanton VRM10

Agreed,

It's a very nice mixer, and considering it's a valve mixer it's not too expensive. But on the other hand I find the EQs a little too close together so the lay out is a little cramped in my opinion. I think the problem I have with it is that's it's double the price of the Xone 464 and although you get a valve mixer that's reasonably good you are actually paying close to £2000 for something that actually resembles the Tascam X9, A & H Xone 62, Vestax PMC 55 or even the Ecler Sclat1005 in functionality. Yet you pay more than double the price in most cases. On the other hand, if you look at the A & H V6 it costs a whole heap more and gives you less in terms of functions. The thing you know with A & H mixers is that the build quality is the best in the business not to mention ergonomical layout. If I had the need for a rotary mixer then that's what I would get.

A & H are good, but I don't know if they have cornered the market quite yet (Although I swear by them). At least not like the 1200 did for a while.

Cheers
Nem

Thanks for the info. I've got a big decision to make now. =)

Since you've mentioned it, I also have another question: What is a rotary mixer? I've never heard the term before, but I would think that it has something to do with rotary knobs, but both the Xone:32 and the VRM-10 have rotary knobs for the EQs and faders for the volumes. I'm curious as to why you refer to the VRM-10 as a rotary and not the Xone:32.
