i'd probably suggest custom made plugs

[1] the fact its moulded to the design of ur ear, makes a greater chance of the freq bein evenly reduced. = more accurate reproduction of sound over the spectrum. u'll want to hear everything + that control when u djin.

[2] i remember u use the technics 1210s. small cups, cramped space for the ear. make using those ear plugs that stick out uncomfortable.

mmm earplugs are the barra. I have used them for about two years now. I used the yellow foam ones for a while and recently bought a pair from a music shop for about $35 which reduce the frequencies much more evenly.

As was said, the yellow ones make the sound really dirty and a lot of clarity in the highs and mids is sacrificed. The ones from an auidologist cost about $300 and i know because I looked into it a while back. I have djed in the $35 ones and have had no problems. When adam freeland played in a few months back he wore the yellow foam ones and was fine.

Like djway said, if you put them in before you go into the club you don't even notice.

Be kind to your hearing. I cannot recommend the wearing of earplugs in nightclubs and raves highly enough.

hmmm....u guys r gettin me worried now earplugs are sumthin i've always meant to get around to doin sumthin about....i think u've inspired me to get off my butt and finally do it!! i always thought they'd just make everything muffled.....glad to hear they don't

i often wonder if i'm screwing up my hearing the more i go out....all the time i get told "speak quieter, i'm not in the next room u know!!" - but i never know if it's cos of my ears, or cos i'm just a loud-mouth *lol* but, better to be safe than sorry.....ear-plugs, here i come

I read in an interview with Tiesto that he wears ear plugs before and after the show but not when he spins, does anyone know what the effects of doing that are?

hmm thats interesting. I always wear them before i play a gig so i have full hearing for my set, but i dont put them in afterwards as i figure ive already killed them.

When i saw tiesto at the love parade i noticed he was wearing ear plugs.

muli, it doesn't work like that. You will kill MORE receptors if you don't put them back in, it's not like there's a quota of receptors you can kill in one evening.

I used to wear earplugs almost everytime i went to Zen cause the volume was just painful but i found i didnt really need it at other clubs, gas has usually been fine (though at Matt Darey - OUCH!), so i havent bothered with it lately, and i dont really think its necessary at Space, the sound is so crisp and clear it avoids the need for the excessive decibels which some clubs seem to think is what really matters....

Might look into getting some of the clear ones though if peeps reckon they dont stuff the sound, the yellow ones just annoy me a bit too much now that ive managed to develop an appreciation for sound quality....

I wear earplugs every time I go out and have done so for some years (people know about it if I've forgotten them cos I get quite upset )...it's worth it not to have my ears ringing for days afterwards.

I use the disposable foam ones cos my dad gets them free from his work for me so unfortunately I can't be much help with brands and prices though.
