Or even do it at an easier school like Ryerson or Mac or something.

hey! nuttin wrong with mac! we're 12th in north america for engineering (at least that's what they tell us, =P) as for ryerson, i worked with a 35 year old guy at this lawn care place 2 years ago. the guy was a lifer, like, stuck doing monkey work with punkass university students for LIFE... well turns out he had an engineering degree from ryerson... scared the shit outta me... but of course ryerson didn't have a certified program back then, =P. now i hear its all good...

Get your facts straight before your spew that shit out!
We do pretty much the exact same shit you guys do over at UofT, we even use the same text books in many cases. My good friend High On PSI can verify this. We're both in 4th year, he's at UofT and I'm at Ryerson, and we've concluded that the programs are very similar, both in material and difficulty.

Anyways, 1st year is rough, but that's the whole point, to separate the boys and girls from the men and women. Does it get any easier? generally no, the only difference is that you eventually get use to life of an engineering student.

i can attest to this as well .. my brother was at Rye Ele. Eng about 7 years ago and my cousin was at UofT Eng .. textbooks and curriculum were almost identical .. so yeah it's been this way for quite some time now ..

this is how it is in elec @ u of t...

first year is hard, not so much because of the material, but more so because ur adjusting to university, engineering specifically.

Second year is a bit harder, theres more work to do, and the material is a bit harder.

Third year is murder. Its assumed by now that you've fully adapted to the engineering lifestyle. ALOT more work, and the courses are alot more technical. From what ive heard tho, theyve made the workload a bit less.

If you've made it to third year, 4th should be ok. Its not easier, its just as hard as 3rd. But since you've finished 3rd yr, u should be able to deal with 4th.

And there is no difference between rye elecs and u of t elecs... we learn the same stuff, and we both suffer. Thats how it is anywhere. Thats just the way engineering is...

love the pic! yums...

umm, as it is for UofT...
I know it's pointless to tell you NOW that you shouldn't have to worry about failing your midterms... but you really shouldn't!
Most of the first year students are shocked by (UofT especially) the concept of "making new" and overall different plan structure... You'll get used to it, so you can relax NOW, and study for the calculus midterm and other exams coming up in december!
...and considering that most of us had to be somewhat - in a way - brilliant in high school, just to get into such - as yours - programs @ UofT (not that I have anything against psychology, philosophy, history, geography, photography, business, management, crap crap crap, bla bla bla, etc. - i just have more respect for CONCRETE stuff - hehe! - no offence to those who have never done a math problem... !!!)... you're probably devastated by the chaos-procrastination you're being forced to experience and the apparent *decrease* wherever you turn (start with the marks).
Forget about feeling sorry for yourself and don't give up! Just do the best you can and you'll be incredibly happy with yourself.

I actually kicked ass in the first year (after a moderate-slow start). I had a problem of a different kind... to start with my 'rents and doing what I completely hated ever since I could remember (CSC)... I got so screwed up running away from reality, it wasn't even funny. Twelve times a bronchitis, 2 million cigarettes and befriending substances LATER, I had lost 2.5 years NOT going to school (I'd drop out from all courses every semester) & lying to EVERYBODY about what'd really bugged me. Anyways, as of September last year everything has taken on a better turn, and I came to my senses (with lotsssss of help - I'll say my thanks when I win my first Nobel prize - :haha and decided what I wanna do... and now, I just wouldn't let a midterm ruin my week/month. I should be done sometime in 2004.
So if you ever think school's making you miserable - feel free to talk to me. ([email protected]) Smiles guaranteed.

Good luck!

a.

p.s. this is *LIKE* my longest post *like* eveEEEEEEr
