I know full well what christmas is, thank you.
My point is, the americans were originaly trying to call it 'WINTER HOLIDAY' because of the "religious deversity" in america, instead of CHRIST-MAS, which is an actual christian holiday.
And just for a "matter of fact" - Unfortunately, Jesus' birthday was not recorded, so we cannot know the exact day of His birth. There were pagan festivals in honor of the Roman God, Saturn, during the month of December. So, December 25 became the recognized day to celebrate Christ's birth as a Christian alternative to the rituals of the day. |
Over reacting?
I know it wasnt recorded, but the reason christmas is celebrated and has traditionally been passed down is from the birth of Jesus, whatever time it was, but the day has been 25th. It wasnt a alternative, it was a celebration of Jesus's birth..
I live in England, so i dont know what america do during xmas with the lights in competitions etc... and call is winter holiday.
didnt mean to piss u off
I love christimas coz its the only time that we as a family all have time off for 2 weeks and can actually see each other all the time without the influence of work, school etc....
