First off I don't think this is entirely all to do with you past GF, sounds like she could be very well be your first. OK, you also said that you dumped her. Welp bro you probably don't miss her as much as the fact of having someone around. I get an idea of how you feel you see all those guys hooking up with all those freshmen cuties left and right? Your like where's my piece, *sigh I did have a piece back my junior year but I fucked it up! Wrong! You had your reasons time to move you would've wasted time. Only natural to feel jealous as well. You also say your introverted, shy low confidence, blah excuses. I know what you see is those "extroverts" center of the stage and you wish you could be one of those. Sure, whatever why not be an outgoing introvert, be an anomoly to what you are, introversion is just a way of thinking. You think introspectively where as extroverts gather things from the environment. Lucky you, you can think outside the box tho, more easily you make your own shit up. Share it with the world. The world will like you if not fuck em. Find the ones that do! IF you want a girl that bad but can't get one settle for a good homie. Sure you not getting sexual things taken care of but u can always wank, sides everydog has his day. A good homie who'll listen to ur probs. and kick it wid you. Shit its college, lotsa women just try every wkend even if you don't want to. I could go on about women but I dont' have time.

fucking word, no drugs, no shrinks, no crap. no, no, and no.

it's gonna be fucking hard, i've been feeling pretty happy the past few days and i decided that no matter what i'll try to be cheerful... but seems like today is not my day and i'm entering my cycle again, constant daydreaming, lack of focus, apocalyptic views of the world, etc...

the thing is, you gotta take your mind off these things. it's going to be hard, but you have to do it. hang out with people, do things that you enjoy the most, listen to music - positive music, preferably, even if sad music makes you feel kinda good, it's not good in the long run. just try to think about and do other things.

man, i wish i was strong enough to follow my own advice...

The simplest advice you can get is :

*drum roll*

Get over it.

You wallow in self-pity like a pig in its own shit. I used to. I used to fondle the idea of leaving the world behind like a monkey feeling its balls ( i know, my analogies rock, its ok). Then I got over it. Nothing special, nothing really that hard. You just have to say, "its time to be happy." and then fix all the shit you know is wrong. If you wont do that, you dont want to be happy, youre looking for a quick fix, or you actaully enjoy taht "woe is me" attitude.

Its fucked up these days that people think there is a 1 stop answer to all questions. There aint, so dont try them. Its a holistic thing. get your life together, happiness follows. 'Nuff said.

There is a very SMALL minorty that suffers chemical depression. I have 3 family members who fit in this category, and they maybe need pills 2 months out of a year to get themselves out of depression long enough to fix their lives, and they THEY ARE OFF.

either way, you havent molded your life into what you want, or what you want needs some re-evaluation.

Get to it.

Well first off let me just say that its unhealthy to be going out with someone when you are depressed in the first place, because you tend to associate them with your happiness and you lean on them to provide you with that and most times you're left worst off when they are no longer in your life. But try not to focus on her anymore, but on yourself. Try to faze her out of your mind by fazing her out of your life. You say she blows you off, so why would you want to keep in contact with her? What's worked for me in the past is keeping busy, doing something positive for yourself whether it be school-related, getting a job, or just hanging out. Try to surround yourself with people that make you happy like family or friends. I would recommend you hold off on starting a new relationship because being in a relationship will force you to focus on that person rather than on yourself.

And lastly, I think you should seriously consider talking with a psychiatrist before you seek medication. Pills might give you temporary relief but they won't be able to help with the underlying thoughts and emotions. Good luck with everything.

actually, i find your analogies kinda offensive and insulting, i hate pity and especially self-pity, and maybe sometimes i wallow in depressing thoughts, but i don't feel like a pig rolling in shit and i don't feel like a monkey fondling my balls.

in fact, i feel much better because i see people study / work their lives away so that they could get a nice cubicle shit-job and get some mortgages... fun fun fun! and then i think how much i despise everything and i feel better that at least i REALIZE how shitty that is, even if i can't do anything about it (although maybe i can, but i don't really want to)

Even better would be Hand in Hand, Can't Stop Raving and Rainbow to the Stars.
like a rainbow to the stars
keep the faith right in your heart
if you let your dreams come true
then happiness will follow you...
Dune rocks, wheee!!

Btw, I agree that Orbax's analogies are great.
