Yeah that's why I have that website in my sig lol.
Yes, the fact she is a girl does have something to do with it, and I certainly guessed the correct gender of your friend based on your description of her. Although the American mentality towards sex isn't as chauvinist as the Mexican or S. American ones, it gives women the message that they have to be sexy, but at the same time they are considered "dirty" if they sleep with many different people. This is in contrast to the male sexuality where it's reasonable or even noble for a man to sleep with many women. I agree with the people who said America is too sexually repressed, but then it also depends on where you are in America. Compare a city like Miami with some rural town in the South or Midwest and you will see what I mean (but it could be better). Of course I blame religion, but religion is not the only cause for this phenomenon.
I saw part two of this great documentary the other day:
http://www.hbo.com/docs/programs/naked_world/index.html
Basically it's about an American artist named Spencer Tunick who uses nude people as a kind of "paint" in his photographs, or as an abstract figure of harmony and dissonance with their surroundings. I think many of his most successful photographs are those that contrast the stark urban qualities of cities with the frailty that is the nude body. The first documentary was based mostly in the USA, and was fascinating (in a non-sexual way).
In his second project, he travelled around the world to find people to photograph. It was interesting to learn about different cultures views on nakedness and sexuallity. The point I was trying to make is that even in a relatively secular country like Japan or an "open" country like France, it's still possible to have a repressed sexuality; an objection to the nude form even for the sake of art.
P.S. He found the most "open" cities were Montreal and Melbourne where the police and local governments actually helped him achieve his goal, and he found the highest number of willing subjects.
It's being replayed:

(yay for free HBO hah)
It's kind of sad though that this kind of thing is only shown on a channel like HBO (even though there are no rules as to what cable networks may broadcast). HBO sometimes has trashy "documentaries" as well about stripers and hookers etc, but this one was really well done. In terms of American Network tv, I think it's stupid with all the rules they are forced to adhere to involving language and nudity etc. PBS seems to follow a different set of rules however because their documentaries don't censor as much. A person could never say, "Dick sucking cock-sucking mother******s" (like on PBS) on NBC for example. :P
-edit Wow even TA doesn't let me say the big "MF."
