thats why the crowd was so clueless. I got there for the dj before Rap and the people there were way too overdressed and the general attitude I got from them was that they were too good to be there. I got some stares because I was in jeans and sneakers and Wally was in pseudo-caffeine pants and sneakers while everyone we walked by was decked out in clothes specifically for lounges

honestly,

i like it when people dress up a bit

the last few years people have been going out like they are going to play sports

when people dress up or put on a funky outfit on, it adds to the vibe imo

flame me if u want, thats what i think

Vic, I have no problem with dressing up, but I have a problem when people match the attitude with the outfit. If they were dressed up but enjoying themselves thats one thing, but a lot of the people last night felt like they were too good to be there with other people. The 2nd level when I looked out was really going nicely, but I could tell that there were a lot of people on the dance floor that were just there posing. The place def. does not have the same kind of vibe or energy that say roxy or glow has.

I agree to a point. You should deffinetly have to be presentable, but you should also be able to be comfortable. I dont like wearing dress shoes to clubs. I miss the days whn club attire was bright/reflective/neon cloths. When people take the time to get dressed a certian way for their favorite club, it really adds to the mood. It one of the things I always loved about Crasher nights.

I'm suprised that so many people are complaining about the Door staff. Ian and me were talking about how they were some of the best door staff we had ever seen at a club. I can understand why later in the night they get moody though. They do deal with a lot of annoying people through the night.

with sneakers or not it is all about
having a fashion sense, having the
ability to coordinate colors and
textures in harmonious ways...

just like with music, the majority
of well known of dj's s___ bec they
either ignore such attribute or
simply bec they don't have it

an average looking girl with
great style looks great or even
fantastic with the right outfit!
as long as it is sensual and of
good taste, which is rare...

there is a store i love for young
woman located in colombus avenue
between 69 and 70 st on the westside
of the street, next to an argentinean
pizzeria named "rigoletto"

their clothing lines are so fresh,
sexy and flawless

anyway, as long as the clubs have
different dress codes i don't mind
wearing loafers one night and
sneakers the other lol

If you absolutely have to wear sneakers...

If you have to absolutely wear snekers then just make them trendy. Now I now a lot of you addicts aren't focused on what's trendy now, so I'll clue you in. The sporty chic look is very in right now. To Ferry I wore diesel JEANS, Asics running flats, and a sporty clubby mesh long sleave shirt. Granted the jeans were very stylized and NOT baggy (baggy = very not trendy, bouncers specifically told to look out for people in baggy clothes), but what I was wearing was very comfortable. So for sneakers what's in? Racing flats Nike, Asics, and whole bunch of companies make them, plus since they were meant to be run in they have all this cool reflective material on them that looks awesome in the club's lights. Other acceptable sneakers are pumas which you can even buy at Barney's now. If you stick to rules like this you'll never have a problem with dress codes. ;-)

well i see that this fashion thing has came up and thought i'd drop my 2cents into it. i understand fashion is an art that alot of people like to express (whether they are heard or not) i think that fashion is according to society's norm, and reflects no personal interest. i wear what i want to wear cuz i like to wear it lols...on that note do you have to be fashionably the same as everyone else to enter an establishment. dont be misunderstood by what im saying, im just stating that yes it may be proper to dress proper to go into a club but face it, we are here for the music so let us dress as long as we have a shirt, pants, and sneakers on we should be allowed to enter the club, especially if we have money. so wat if i came up to the club dressed as a bum but dropped 2Gs at the door guy to let me in do you think he'll let me in? interesting aint it....

but not to attack the fashion statements people make, i for one find that when people "dress up" then tend to dress with the least amount of clothing possible which by all means i do not object too so maybe going to avalon again isnt all that bad dont ya think =P

I heard that if you bought a ticket for Avalon in advance, you'd get in, no matter what (even if you're only with a group of guys)... And Arc, another "world renowned club" doesn't have a dresscode (at least to my knowledge), why does Avalon have one? Dresscodes at clubs are stupid, people should go dressed however they want (within taste).

avalon is trying to attract a certain crowd. there was an article in the times about this. if you ever notice the people behind the bars, etc, are all pretty good looking. supposedly they also pay models to lounge around to make the place better looking and more appealing to the crowd they hope to attact. horrible door policy, but then pays to be a girl for once.

And on another note...
OK I liked the Ferry set, but hated the crowd. If you are not well wasted (I wasnt) this ends up being really hard to deal with my feet have just stopped hurting from getting stepped on...

Alcohol&small venue= take off those shoes, trainers, or whatever or dont step on ppls feet!
What happened to "excuse me miss..." thats all they need to say sometimes....

Regardless, I would go again (to Avalon), as the sound is nice and loud and they are bringing in alot of top acts these days...But can't drink there too expensive.

I'm lucky this week, blessed by the trance gods am going to see Ferry again Saturday...

NEC IN uk...hope I can recover lol any ideas from this fashion thread what to wear there?
