Hi,

great track! nice build, tight progression. Thank you for this haunting melody. I think you should work on drums a little bit, try different samples maybe..

Thanks for the comments guys.

The volume of the main lead is fine on my home system, but I'll test it at the club this Friday to make sure it's loud enough there too.

As for the percussions, there are currently like 12 layers so I don't think adding any will help. Again they sound good on my home system, so I'll check at the club to make sure they're sounding full enough.

re808: which samples are you referring to?

Thanks again for the comments.

Yeah, nice track. I think the bass is a bit too hard for the track and I'm missing some sub-bass frequencies. The bassline thus sounds a bit thin.
There's a good driving force in this track, I like that. I also like the pads you created with atmosphere, really spheric. The lead is a bit drowning in the huge pads, you should lower some of the freq's of the pads to give the lead more space in the spectrum.
I'm also missing a bit of a breakdown in the track. It flows right through the main melody without a 'hands in the air' moment. Could really make the track more interesting I think.

But the melody is really amazing, as well as the chord progression. Good basis to build further on!

Yeah, the sub-bass occupies 65-80hz only, so you won't hear it without good speakers/sub/headphones.

I'm not really a big fan of huge "hands in the air" breakdowns as you put it, mainly because they don't go over that well whenever I play them at my club (our scene isn't nearly as developed as it is over there, to say the least =P).

I'll adjust the lead sound after hearing it on a big system. Thanks for the comments!

Nice job, really like it from 4:38 on. I, too, am missing some of the sub-bass and I have good monitors. I know you worked hard on this part of the track (sub-bass and kick part). I hear the subs, but I'm not feeling them physically. Maybe it's just me (and Illicit). The result is it feels kind of sparse in the intro, but once all of the elements come in it isn't as much of an issue. I'm not sure of this, but I read on Ampfea one time that you can use a square wave for sub-bass. Since a square wave has harmonics (sines don't) it might be more present in the mix. Again, I can't confirm this.

Like the chord progression, very distinctive.

Thanks for the comments. Since the sub-bass is constant it shouldn't have a booming type sound to it, but rather a constant warmth and depth. You guys may be right and I may very well end up increasing it, but I'll save any tweaking until I hear how it comes out on a big system.

You have some real nice percussions in this. Melody is a little lacking in my opinion, could be stronger and musically more coherent. Also, your synths seem to be meshed together and no real lead synth emerges ... so the song lacks a focus in the end since there is no one leading synth playing (or maybe there is but i didn't catch it since it was lost in the other synths). Good track overall though.

Stan.

Thanks for the comments en2t. For all the comments about the main synth lacking volume, I guess my headphones are artificially bringing it out more than it should be, so I'll probably be adjusting this quite a bit after hearing it on a big system.
