1) Im learning to beatmatch on some pretty crazy records. like Hard Trance, hard house, crazy nearly HHC style n shit like that. Should I go get something slower with a more distinct bassline ie THUMP THUMP THUMP

as opposed to the

THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP
that im going with now?

Might help..but I learned at 150 bpm, as well.

2) Does the fact that im workin on Belt drive make a difference? Im sure it does, cuz the plate stops, and then it starts and then everthing is WAY off. So will it make a huge difference?

It does make a difference, but it shouldn't keep you from beatmatching. I'm still using a table that is direct drive but also stops cause it has a weak magnet.

4) Will my habit of EQ work (which I will always have to do for work, there is no pitch control) make it harder for me to learn? Like breaking a 'bad' habit?

WHAT? there is no pitch control? how do you wanna beatmatch? or are you talking about the pitch control that some CD decks have to leave the notes the same when speeding up a record. If the second option is correct, stop messing with the EQ (except bass), it'll distract you from keeping the records matched.
By the way, it's not bad when they become out of sync while you are in the mix. This happens, you just need to learn to hear which one is in front/behind and do the corrections very carefully. If you got a good ear, you can hear this happening in PvD/ Tiesto sets as well
keep working. did you read my post? I didn't let anyone listen to me mix for over a year!

ok, what's he was talking about was that when we do video dances (teh DJing we're used to) there is no pitch control, so you can't beatmatch
therefore you play around with the EQ to get the mix sounding decent
he was wondering if he should continue this, or not

CAREFUL WITH BELT DRIVE TABLES. Depending on how you match beats on the cued record you can bust the band and have to buy a new one. And by no means ever mix on the belt driven. THe belt drive will have a slower pick up then the direct driven thats why you are off when the belt driven picks up. This is why everyone says TEchnics are godly. They are quartz direct driven, the pick up instantly. Also they have insane pitch control.

ooh ooh ooh..I got much better today!! There are 3 of us. Me Will and shockwav. Will owns the tables and most of the vinyl. I own the mixers(there are 2) and some vinyl and am the 'owner' of the 1000Watt system we have in my basement @ the time...so yeah..the three of us were there..and today..dude I had 3 perfect mixes in a row..followed by a horrible train wreck..Then after that I had a decent mix going..and the record changed on me..so my mix that I had held together for like 10 seconds went to hell...and i died.

So in other words, im not giving up, and ill just practise more!!
