Bit of a side note:
Is it just me or does "time of our lives" have some of the worst vocals ever created for a track? The beat for that song is awesome, then the vocals kick in and I feel like vomiting.

it's ur own damn fault! u keep downloading or buying everything he produces. ofcourse it would seem then that he lost his touch....
just don't listen to new tracks for the next month, and download a set then. u'd feel like it was 2000 again, with all the new tunes u never heard before....

aye...great point there

as for my opinion bout paul..first of, im really easy to please so i really don't complain alot. second of all, i think paul has not lost his touch as a great dj, like mikey pointed out, he's been known to rape tracks over and over again. that is just how he is...other dj's out there do the same way...like tiesto for example, or armin...they have a tracklist of songs they play every year....i really think we should not be complaining...1. paul will never be an oakey, so we don't have to fear. 2. i think paul still have that magik touch when he goes on the tables...ENUFF SAID...im not going to make this a book...just trying to lay my opinions down

later

i agree. its a horrible double standard we hold djs to, but paul was able to balance is very well in the past (atleast imo). now there seems to be no balance.

i really hope its only a rut, and i'm sure next time i see paul live again (WMC 2004!!!!!!!) i'll be "OMFG OMFG I DIE" -ing left and right so i'm not really worried about losing my fav dj

honestly, i just think he's tired. for a studio mix, his EM wasnt that bad like everyone said it was. he just put out a new album, he's trying to get his music out, the tracks coming out as of late arnt as good (thus why he's been recycling the same summer tracks), and overall, we, his large army of fans, are just never satisfied. while we download every set within the last month and listen to it 100 times each before the next club night, we keep demanding more. "Play this paul, dont play YOUR music paul, dont be a jerk to ATB paul, YOUR MUSIC IS TRANCE DAMNIT PAUL!! WTF PAUL? i thought he was supposed to be like... god, right? "

the answer is no. the guy needs a break. Give him some rest time to let the creative juices flow and chillax. and leave him alone! he isnt god, ya shmucks

I think paul has become a victim of his own success but I wait till he goes back to the old pvd style and till then I'll just keep listening to the old sets or I may dig out seven ways or otab.

The old PvD style is gone forever, he's out grown that both as a person and an artist (I for one am glad since I hate hearing all the old anthems anyway). As for the lack of originality over the years, look at the way trance music has become more easily accessible to people. I can remember people like Sasha would play the same track for like a year before it would be available anywhere. Now, if you're hooked up with the right people you can get music even before the big name DJs.

Why can't he grow and change as an artist, everyone does...look at Tiesto, Oakenfold, Ferry, etc. They have all changed alot over the years. I would think that if you didn't grow and change over the years that playing the same style year after year would be boring.

And to the person who says his 6 hour sets lack flow, you may be right, but really to keep a set flowing for 6 hours is kinda tough. Just my 2 cents.
