The problem with "who're" is, if you miss the apostrophe (however you spell this) like most people do in that's, he's etc., you get a new, offensive word...

What a pointless argument. Luke said "this was a nice remix" which doesnt really make sense. "That was a nice remix" and "this is a nice remix" are right. So coup is right when he says he shouldve said "is", but not for the reason he stated.

That is how everyone who speaks English outside of North America says it.

I know they are odd....I got used to it from reading a lot of Australian newspaper articles online a couple years back.

Of course, it is coming from an Australian and most people up here couldn't understand one 90% of the time anyway.

Ah the irony, an american bashing someone else about their English/Accent.

Howdy cowboy?

I have a question. Where would you guys put the apostrophe in this person’s name in this sentence?

Enclosed please find medical records from Dr. bla bla regarding Maria Matos’s IME.

I said it goes like that (the way I just wrote it). This chick I work with corrected it and said it should be...

Maria Matos’ IME.

The apostraphe only goes at the end w/ no s when the word is plural right? Please tell me I’m right...this is like high school English and I’ll feel stupid if I’m wrong considering I qualified for English honors in my college placement test.

well i asked my mom and she and her coworker both said i'm wrong. if ANY word ends in s there is no s after the apostrophe. i could have sworn that s' only applied to an actual plural word. oh well.

Actually, when the word is single and ending in an s, either "'" or "'s" are accetable.

For example, both "Jesus' sandles" and "Jesus's sandles" are correct.

But wouldn't that be "sandals"?
