do a chkdsk or scandisk

look in ur task manager for the program that munches at ur RAM, get rid of the bastid.

ur hd maybe a little slow, the hd my xp is on is a shitty seagate, which is abt 3gb and old...windows takes ages to startup as of the slow hd speed.

check ur reserved I/Q resources in the device manager, something might be hogging the system...
