the only reason i decided tho use mozilla firebird was just because my IE was dumb and decided to stop working on me. i never liked it anyway to begin with. too many pop ups.

Cheers!
Unfortunatly there isn't . According to this article : http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;293907 , You can disable IE from starting up but you can never remove it from the OS itself. They have integrated it so much with Windows its impossible (or so they say - talk about consumer lock-down).
Good luck with mozilla, you'll love it. To enhance the browser get some plugins, first things I recommend you to get is a theme and mouse gestures (from: http://mozdev.org)

-IE loads 1 second quicker. But once you have the program open, Firebird is much faster than IE
Make sure firebird is using the quick launch option, it will speed up startup even faster than IE. IE's startup is fast because most of it is already loaded by windows by default, and because Windows is faster in executing programs that are constantly used.

-I hate having to readjust the font size
Are they changing by themselves? interesting. Under Edit -> preferences -> Appereance you can change the general font size and type for all pages you view. If you want to change the font size per website, you use the View -> Zoom Text option.

-I want all windows to open as tabs
By windows u mean links you click on?
Like loca said, either right click on the link and choose open in new tab or hold CTRL while clicking or get the mouse gestures (http://optimoz.mozdev.org/gestures/index.html) plugin to automatically open links in a new tab with a simple move of the mouse. Another tip: I like opening my tabs in the background so that when i do searches on google i can open multiple tabs really fast and then look at the resulting pages. You can do this by going to Edit -> preferences -> navigator -> tabbed browsing and check "load links in background"
Why doesn't IE have all these nice features? Monopoly, MS already has a monopoly in web browsers installations. They don't need to improve their 1999 technology since they are sitting on top. Inovation my ass.

With the tab issue, holding control when you click on something also loads it as a tab. There are quite a few tab-related extentions as well (Even excluding the geustures), so have a look at them as well.

I tried downloading Mozilla, both the regular one and Firebird. They both seem to download 100%, but when I try to extract/unzip them, they appear incomplete. WTF? So I dl Mozilla from DC, and try to extract it, but it doesn't seem to work.. FFS!!

You downloaded it from 'DC' you say. I'm assuming that you therefore mean Direct Connect?
Download them from mozilla.org rather than p2p. If not, I have no idea, sounds like your computer is stuffed. I've never heard of that happening before/seen anyone claim that it's happened, and there is a lot of downloading going on when it comes to Mozilla (Basically due to the nightly builds).

Eh?
Firebird doesn't really look anything like Netscape. Just download one of the 50+ themes that are availible if you don't like the look. Most browsers look fairly simaliar, Mozilla has the most varied skin system i've come accross so far.
And why would you want to use control-o when you have tabled browsing?
To be honest, I have absolutley no idea what you're on about.

Yup I have installed it and am very happy with it, excellent! Thanks for the tip mate, I recommend anyone else to give this a go, even if its just to see what its like to use another browser!

Try CTRL + T or CTRL + N or CTRL + SHIFT + L
I agree with you! the default nestcape looking theme is ugly! .. Thats why I use themes (http://themes.mozdev.org):

Eh? I've never found any quick launch option in Firebird...

I'm used to press Ctrl+O, then enter the URL to the site I want to visit, rather than typing in the address bar. I might give it one more try, with some nice skin. Tomorrow..
