IMO Parker was bought as a decent squad player who can come in and do a job when other centre mids are injured/need a rest. He's consistent, a grafter who doesn't whinge, and he's British, so he fits the bill nicely as a utility player. I don't think he has ever been in Ranieri's long term first-team plans.
