By the way, the most disappointing aspect of the trip was the tourists. Way too many brits and italians in San Antonio that don't know shit about electronic dance music! (no offense guys on TA) |
I am an Anglo-Italian and resent that remark! I can understand your point of view about the 'Brits' as, by sheer frequency, it is likely that many rotten eggs make the journey to the white isle but Italians? I met very few Italians while I was out there but Italian and Spanish culture are very similar and therefor they treated the island with the respect it deserves.
I speak fluent Spanish, aswell as English, French and Italian, and often discussed the situation of the British tourists with the natives. They seemed to understand that because of the large number of tourists that come to the island, some will not be culturally enlightened! But they said that they take that risk because without tourism, the economy of the island would collapse, leaving them all jobless!

U are taking what i said out of context. I didn't say it applied to all italians and brits first of all. But, i saw plenty of people sitting in the club talking and not even dancing. I even asked a couple of them why don't they get up and dance. Most would either blow me off or just glare. I found that disappointing. I didn't feel that some people came to the clubs for the music. They were there just to be there. I meet plenty of cool italians as well that were dancing and enjoying themselves. But my statement wasn't in referece to them. It was in reference to the people who weren't enjoying the music for what it was. I'm sorry it offends u but these people exist on the island and u know it. Like i said before, i didn't say all people from italy or the uk. I only mentioned the ones i saw in san antonio. My suggestion is not to end the tourist industry there at all either. But, the people from europe have to learn to respect the people of the island. Party hard like everyone else but be conscious its not your land and you are a guest. Lying on the side of the road drunk with barf all over yourself doesn't convey this respect to me as a visitor or the locals. But, this statement doesn't apply to u so don't be offended. As for u recommending San Antonio, thats your opinion. I don't think the town represents ibiza at any way and has become just a tourist town. My personal opinion is that when u go overseas u should try to immerse yourself in the culture. I think i can say that your not gonna get any of that in San Antonio. The town is just geared to tourists. I don't think it represents ibiza in any way or form. You don't have to be culturally enlightened or anything. Just appreciative. I don't see how that happens staying in San Antonio.

Well, i flew from ny to germany to ibiza. On the way back i hit madrid and then back to new york. The plane tkt cost me around $1200 but, u can get one for cheaper if u take more conneceting flights. Summer is in season for ibiza so prices will be high. As for dates, i simply follow PVD, so plan your visit according to the dj's of your choice. As for hotel reservations, there are too many to mention. I stayed in pikes hotel which is rather expensive. We got a two bed suite for like $2000 for eight days but, u can get hotels for way cheaper than this. I saved since last year for this trip so i went all out but, u can manage to make the trip spending much less. It also depends where in ibiza and which clubs u want to be situated near to. |
how bout food? is it good/bad? how much does it cost?
