my dad parties all the time...

his energy on the floor is bar none and it was him who got me into the whole after party the next morning thing.

alot of people cant imagine or dont want to imagine their parents in the scene and thats fine.

For me personally, partying it up for the last 2 years with Dad has brought some of the most fulfilling moments of my life and has made our relationship all the more special to me.

my 2 cents

i was just waiting till this discussion takes a direction towards parents and afterhour parties:

i won't tell u what my parents think cuz my parents are typical traditional parents. We all know how they are like. I really would love it if dad came to a party with an open mind. In my culture, dancing, drinking and drugs are looked upon as a very wrong thing. Only because of the strict muslim regime that has been reigning in this part of the world, specially Egypt. Ancient egytians had partying in their culture and well... ancients made beer so i'm sure they drank .

My parents think clubbing or 'raving' involves drinking, dancing and excessive use of drugs. Given i come home smelling like a chimny, i guess it gives them a reason to worry. Smooking is another thing and i'm sorry to bring this up but it's the dilema that i face every time i go out to a club... i won't get into that cuz i don't want the shit disturbers (we all know WHO) come on and tell me cigerette smoke is safter than the fog machines.

I dunno about my parents, but with my children, i'm gonna allow them more freedom to go out to clubs given raising them up properly with good moral beliefs. Heck, i might as well drive em down and party with the 'old' ones

I witnessed an asian family, including the grandma high on ecstacy doing the robot at VIVA. There are many of these families hitting the club scene. It's strange because she started foaming up, and going into seizure before the night even started. Grandmas and drugs..

I don't think parents should be partying all night - whether that be with excess alchohol or any amount of illicit drugs.

It's one thing to take a harm-reduction standpoint with your children (ie, "if you chose to use, do so in moderation, etc.") but it is quite another to be doing it yourself as a parent. Even if parents follow harm-reduction principles, children often misinterpret these actions as the go-ahead to do as they please without consequences. Remember, actions speak louder than words...ESPECIALLY when you're talking about children.

My parents would never do such a thing, but they also didn't talk to me about drugs, which meant I learned the hard way what moderation was all about. I wish they had given me a heads up, but growing up in rural nova scotia, I'm sure they didn't think I'd be out at superclubs partying like a rockstar til dawn, either.

Personally, I plan on educating my children about the risks, but I don't plan on using drugs of any kind once I become a mother.

People should get that shit out of their system before taking on the responsibility of parenting and acting as a role model.

In 2001 I went to Cape Town with my sister and my dad and we partied together alot. He came to drum and bass and trance clubs and we went to African music clubs.

We had a few crazy drunk nights but the craziest by far was when we went to an "OM like" outdoor trance party on the side of a mountain overlooking the city lights. Overall it was an amazing experiance all busting out together under the stars to some dirty psy-trance and watching fire-poi dancers light up the night. I saw the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean with my dad beside me who had passed out from drinking way too much hemp liqeur and my sister who was tripping out on LSD - as I shared joints with the locals.

On a normal basis though dad wouldn't dream of partying with his kids. He is very much involved in his own music scene and like most parents has a distainful accetance of our music.

And for the record despite having a father who has had his day and still smoke lots of herbs. He has always set a great example of resposiblity and itegrity is very sucessful in all his enevours and has raised two fairly well adjusted children.

yeah but it was funnnnny how some of you were making fun of how those girls talked, and it sounded as if you'd never heard teenage girls talking like that. i just know that a lot of my cousins talk like that (who are taiwanese) and their friends as well. im not really the expert in these matters, arent there any asian high schoolers on this board?

Girl 1 (to Girl 2): do your parents rave?
Girl 2: oh yah do urs?
Girl 1: OMG.. yeah they do, like do urs?
Girl 2: yah
Girl 1: omg.. really eh?

There is no moral prohibition on drug use; the prohibition is on sending your life into imbalance.
