Had nothing to do with being "underground" for me. These were amongst the first artists I discovered that got me into trance in the first place (I couldn't have told you who any of the "big names" were to save my own life while I was listening to these guys).

Mmm , it does sound a different way using the net , i got into trance by listening to mixtapes floating round school in 92 - 93 , and i listened to one tape so much i destroyed it really , wasnt until 96 when i first got on the net , and even then , it wasnt until after 2000 that i started downloading tunes to make cd's for my car using my state of the art external cd rewriter , fuck , im 27 and feel massivley old !!!

I actually got sick of it all very fast and stopped listening to electronic music completely, then got back into it in late 07, joined trance.nu looking for something new, saw that website was a complete shithole brimming over with the shittiest shit, and came here.

for what its worth I also got into trance in this era, mostly due to stuff like mp3.com and napster, and trance [] control.

The "scam" pretty much consisted of having the word "trance" in the name so that noobs could find them easy in the search, putting their songs all over the free mp3 sites and file sharing places, having links to their files plastered all over every mailing list and forum on the net, and labeling their tracks as stuff by the major headliners so that downloaders would discover that is was a TC track only after spending 45 minutes downloading it on ye olde 56k modem.
After spending all that time downloading you were pretty much bound to listen to it at least once.

If I remember right some of the tc tracks eventually got played out in a couple headliner sets, I think they have been on asot a few times too, but it was mostly in ameteur downloads world that they existed.

as for these tracks, they're pretty generic but they are also from before my time! i can see how people might have warm fuzzy memories associated with this stuff but it doesn't really grab me either
