personally, i tend to concentrate on one track more than the other.. i concentrate on the track going in my ear thru the headfones, and just hear the other track and make the comparison. i guess everyone has different techniques, but i find this the best for me

Not true... the majority of the places I play at only have one. On the other hand, you don't need anymore. And not everywhere I play is a shithole either

I prefer to use my right ear in the headphones, but can do both, but with the can on the left side, it feels weird, but doesn't matter, I don't use split cue or anything, just good old school one ear can one ear monitor.

i used to use my left ear all the time and still find it easier. however, in my dorm room i now have the monitor i listen from on the left side and didn't find it too difficult to switch.
