this was the case with a friend, computer illiterate. kept trying to run company software on an XP when its only designed for 9x/ME. I enlightened him before he bought more needless expensive equipment.

When I say multiple programs I'm talking two, explorer and Excel. It can't be the computer cause it was brand new.

I mean on my mac I can have the internet open, itunes radio running, limewire downloading and photoshop open.

the only reason why you can have problems with XP is because of poor and old hardware, bad or missing drivers and poor quality RAM, lots of people don't take this last one advice seriously!

As for Outlook, I still have to be infected with a virus/worm.

Outlook XP blocks harmful attachments, and to be sure of the content of an email without opening it. You should enable "AutoPreview" in the View menu and disable "preview pane" in the View menu. This way, you can see the first 2 lines of the email, and see if its junk and delete it right away.

I heard Outlook 2003 is even better with viruses and spam. i'll have to check it out for myself.

i dont think its microsofts fault for all the viruses... i mean microsoft is the os that is used on 94% of all the computers... so what does that mean? if u make a virus to infect microsoft os it will damage more computers. i guarantee you if linux had 94% of the market it would have as much viruses writen for it as microsoft and then u'd be saying "oh linux is shit lets all switch to microsoft"

they wouldnt be able to find one single thread where somebody had a problem and had it solved without some little shit making a smart arse comment and pissing people off.
