OMG WHAT A NIGHT ! JAMES ZABIELA IS A LEGEND !
He completely exceeded my expectations. He dropped 3/4 tracks I really wanted to hear. Highlight tracks for me were
Syntax - Bliss (Wrecked Angle Remix) REM - The Great Beyond (Hybrid Remix) and Introvert vs Bjork - Joga
Nice seeing everyone there. Emerson, Santos and Mario thank you guys for everything. See you guys next weekend for G&D.
- Joel

Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open-mindedness; chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself. - Timothy Leary

My Review
Well well well well, what else can I say but whew! First off props to Sean Carnahan for bringing this talent number one, and two for letting us be apart of it. Anyway now that the judos have been dispensed, on to the review. I also took some pics, Ill get someone to post them Im not that great with computers.
First Dj up was Lance Cashion, Im not sure if thats the correct spelling, anyway, this guy was first to hop on the decks, hes done a few Proton Radio gigs, he has sort of a downtempo, melodic prog style. His opening track was often great mood builder. He wasnt on the decks very long and there wasnt that large of a crowd but I was diggin his music.
Now we go onto Randall Jones, Tigerhook, Bedrock, this guy completely blew the roof off the place. I mean he threw down some awesome tracks very fun guy. He was really a great choice to open up for Zabiela he got the crowd ripe and ready. Speaking of which I thought that Houston was going to disappoint me to be honest but the crowd turnout was great, there was a good amount of energy, so props to Houston for showing respect for number 11 on your Dj charts. Neway after Randall blew it up it was time for James.
Zabiela arrived about 1:00 Am, and he fraternized and then took a few pics with yours truly, and some other peeps, and then he began to setup. Never before had I seen a dj so dedicated to bringing the crowd the full experience. He brought with him and effects something I dont know the technical term for the machinery but it allowed special effects and things of that nature. He had a little trouble setting it up, he needed the room and what not but he got it plugged in, plugged up his cdj, there were three total and he was ready to rock. He started by doing some absolutley crazy mind bending effects, to wathc this man on the decks is an absolute joy and pleasure, to be honest gave me a better appreciation for scracthers and what not. Track selecetion was great although for a track list, you have to get it from Emerald (Mike) or Prestige (Alan), I dont really know what he played but I do know it was great. I know one track he played was something Sound Alliance, but I dont remember it was a bad ass tune though. I mean this guy jus gave me so much more than I expected I me he threw in some ridiculous breaks, and the man made live remixes, and made his own custom breakdowns. Never has the other wise dumb ass phrase "Thas a great song you're making" been more true. Because Zabiela was truly making magic right before your eyes. This guys technical aspect was right on cue, not one mix was off not one, and thas saying something with the degree of difficulty the mixes that Zabiela is doing. All in all it was an awesome night.
One gripe, the fuckin bouncers at Barcode need to get with the fucking program, not only was that guy a jerk but he was a wanker as well, anyway great great great night and definitely a set to
remember.
P.S. Props to Emerald and Prestige for getting the camera setup so we could not only run a live feed to the flat screens but we recorded the set on video, I heard were making a dvd of it so be on the look out for that.

holy holy shitzzzz.....
all i gotta say is, JAMES ZABIELA IS THE SHIT. he is my new favorite dj, track selection wise, and technically, i mean damn.
i expected to hear and see him bust some crazy effects but some of the shit he was doin was just insane, shit i woulda never thought you could do with a CDJ.
Lance and Randall were both awesome, i didnt get to hear much from Lance cause me and Alan were runnin around tryin to get the cameras feeds workin, but it was great to hear some good prog.
Then Zabiela came on, and oh my. His lil computerized filtered vocal intro was fuckin dope, got everyone hype and shit and then he just did his thang for 2 hours. Alan got him to play Sound Alliance - Precious , which was that badass track that sampled the Lord Of The Rings melody, and he even busted the same crazy reverse effects on it and shit from the set we first heard the track from. and i heard the Bjork track too, awesome song. And did you bois hear what he was doin to Underworld - Dark And Long (Danny Howells Mix) ??? DAMnnnnn he busted a live remix with a breakbeat layered under it, and scratchin and loopin the main melody of underworld, FUCKKK!!!!!!!!! and his finale was fuckin crazy too, when he busted his own lil beat, pounding the ABC samples on the CDJ!!! SHIT!!!
we got most of the set on tape, front and behind the decks views, but our friend Hunter has them right now hopefully compiling a VCD or somethin.
After we cleaned up everything me and Alan headed over to Barcode and Lori was just wrappin up her set. Then Zabiela JUMPED BACK ON THE DECKS with his effects processor and tagged a set with Asif and Randall Jones, they were pretty much throwin down all their newest self-remixes and shit, and the shit Zabiela was playin was fuckin dope AS SSHIIIIIIITTTTTT........... his last track was fuckin insane... shoulda asked him what it was. But around 5-ish the club closed shop so we called it a night and took off.
in conclusion,
wicked party. props to the spundae crew for hostin a sick show and the Scotts for the lasers.
hopefully next weekend we'll have the projector set up along with the tv screens.
SEE YOU BOIS AT G&D!!!!!
