answer this: when did time begin?
some questions just cant be answered. |
Believe me, I'm just as confused as you when it comes to the origins of the Universe. I've got a friend who's really into astro physics & astronomy, and I simply can't get my head around most of the stuff he talks about. I would suggest getting hold of some Stephen Hawking books (firstly he talks with a computer, which is, well, cool, and then there's all that science stuff ). And you never know, there probably is a theory that claims to explain how time began. Come to think of it, it would be nice if someone with some working knowledge of the topic could come in and clarify things a bit.
By the way, it is possible to believe in god but reject Christianity/Islam/Judaism/Hinduism and so on. Deism is always an option if you think that the god as portrayed in the Torah, Bible, Koran and so forth doesn't exist, but believe there is or was a supreme being out there. I was a deist at one point, and who knows, after I've (hopefully) got a better understanding of the whole origin of the universe topic, I may become one again, but as it stands, it's atheism for me.

The wording of that question itself makes it impossible. If you meant to ask, "How did time begin", then the simplest answer is that it didn't. It has always existed, and we have no reason to assuming that it had any beginning or will have an end. Religion and religion alone gives us the notion that there was a beginning - drop that pretense, and there is no basis for creationism.
It's simply a matter of accepting that using time to describe its own origin does not make sense. A more rational thing to do would be to ask the question, "What could exist if there was no time?" And the answer would be "nothing." Follow this through to its logical conclusion and it is fairly straightforward that time is simply there, much like the quantum foam of space, and that if it even had an origin, there is certainly no being that could have existed before that origin to cause it.
Hope that helps ya.

or...since time is viewed as the fourth dimention (as in locating things: since the x,y,z, and time all can only add together to one object for each set of values
so like imagine earth without the z axis, it just wouldn't be anything our minds could comprehend
