I wouldn't say that. Is good to make remixes of an old tune once in a while just to see how much have you improved. Eventhough i think Synestesia is PERFECT and Steve Helstrip should leave it as it is. Hear Mudbloods remix for Flaming June well... it sucked but hear Veracocha - Carte Blanche (Ronald van Gelderen Remix) (which is a lot better than the remixes that came in that time).

Even if it is only about the money. I have been listening to trance for about 6 years now, but I have never had the money to get turntables so I never picked up any of the vinyls. In most cases with these new mixes the original is usually on there or a mix that I would consider to basically be like the original. Now that I'm finally picking up vinyls this let's me pick up the classics that I missed the first time around. It may not be the best idea in the club to have a complete set of classics, but I love hearing them thrown into sets every once in a while.

In short: It allows people like me to pick up the classic tunes that I missed the first time around.

One could say if it's not broken then don't fix it but who cares, if it sucks then ignore it and let it die just like any other track you listen to, discard and is never considered again.

Who knows maybe there will be some good remakes coming out in the near future, you just don't know. The point is if it sucks so what, it's easy to say something sucks before you hear it just because the remake's havn't been working that well as of late but who cares, time will tell and like I said before, don't like it? Ignore it.

Yet another chronic death knell for trance as we know it.

Produce, don't reproduce.

Just give it a chance!

I mean people keep saying remakes are bad. I think the Lost Tribe 'Gamemaster" example proved that point of remakes being bad BUT what makes that point false is say Matt Dareys remakes of Point Zero (Lost Tribe remake, Li Kwan Remake & Matt Darey 2004 remake), this definetly gives the Original more feel. So not all remakes are going to be a disappointment.

The Point Zero remakes were okay, but they brought positively nothing to the table artistically. When these skilled producers are using their time and talent to merely alter old work, it typically means a) they are at a lack of inspiration, and b) they see a relatively easy way to make money.

Remakes aren't inherently bad, but they really should have smashing potential for rebirth to be considered, and be sparing in number. None of the recent remakes are that far removed from the current musical condition of trance, and the quantity we've experienced has done nothing but stagnate trance further.

My memo to the involved producers: stop milking the last threads of '99 and make another one happen instead. Remakes are only damaging trance, which is already struggling with a lack of innovation.

Well said, 100& agreed.

btw, check the Li Kwan remake of Point Zero, it's a very beautiful remake.

DSP - From Russia With Love was a beautiful remake too. We didn't really need another.

hmm

For me it looks like the trance producers are missing the "1999 sound" that the tunes had back in the day, so they are remaking tunes over and over... What I dont know is why dont they make new tunes with "1999-ish" sound and feel? instead of remakes?
