Re: Mixvibes pro is the way to go!

Look, I know everyone claims that their program is the best,, la la and la la. My suggestion would be for you to try some out by downloading their free demos. I personally use and like mixvibes pro 3.0 and above. I have used tracktor, vtt, bpm studio, and many others. One thing that you should want from an mp3 mixer should be responsiveness,,, and make sure that it reacts precise as opposed to choppy. I have learned to mix very well with the program that I use, expect that to be the same case with you. Eventually, you should learn to master that program with enough practice. I have noticed that each program has its advantages and disadvantages. For instance, vtt has that great feature where you only need a 2 dollar adapter and one sound card to properly mix,,, but you will only hear everything in mono. Some of the disadvantages with vtt are the amount of mixers (only two), and the lack of reaction time when hitting the mouse. Some people gave mixvibes low ratings, because it's sometimes intimidating design and features. I don't care,,, it just takes a little time to learn the program, and in the end it pays off.
VTT -- use only if you have one sound card -- even if you have only one, I dont recommend that program. I personally think it sucks compared to others.
Tracktor -- Just seems and feels like cheese. I can't put my finger on what this program has that I don't like ---- Maybe is the lack of mixers,, no balance control, etc. But just feels unstable and is not as responsive as mixvibes pro. I personally don't think it actually emulates real dual cd decks,, and has too much of a cartoon interface.
BPM studio pro --- Great program,, lots of features, but takes up way too many resources. I have 320mb of sdram w a 750mhz CPU and my machine had problems while I was looping and recording. This program lets mix straight out of your cd player, because it supports .cda format. But it only has a limit of two mixers and no balance control.
Mixvibes pro -- My favorite. It is stable, responsive,, everything is in real-time. You have up to 16 mixers to work with,, supports up to 4 sound cards, Has on the fly 6 cue points per song, bass mid treble controls, scratching, looping, works with sampling programs, lets you sample, works with midi, balance control, auto bpm (which I don't use), Id3 tag editing on mp3s, wave visualization, doesn't take up to many resources, allows you to record and edit your work, allows you to record in wave or mp3 at different bit rates and it will let you create a cue sheet for your mix. Has different skins in case you don't like the current one. This program is definetely the most realistic that I have used. Don't take my word for it, check it out for yourself. |
Hey thx for the reviews m8
I think ill check Mixvibes out!

Re: Mixvibes pro is the way to go!
I'd like to adress some of the things you said about VTT here.
First, you mentioned it's "lack of responsiveness to the mouse". I've used this program for nearly 3 years now, and I dont know what you're talking about. You might be talking about how it does functions on button-down-up stages, rather than button-down stages. VTT is very responsive for me, espiecially when you use the keyboard shortcuts to start/stop/pause a track. The only thing which isn't as responsive, is the EQ (has a slight buffer delay)... a problem i'll get around when i get an external mixer.
Second, you mentioned it can "only handle 2 mixers". VTT can handle up to three players, should you ever find the need for it. If you look at the mixing console, there is a third fader for it. It's just not obvious because you need to open another mp3 file to open the third player. The crossfader/cue can be configured to use any of the three channels from there.
Third, you make it seem like the stereo splitter was the only way to get a headphone cue. VTT does support multi-soundcard setups, so you can use a secondary soundcard for headphone cueing. Hect, you can use three soundcards (one for each player) and hook them all into an external mixer.

I tried that, It doesnt work, However, I dont need headphones to hear the other source knowing when the beatmixing is going well, Anyways, I found out in the sound config, If you disable the Master Tempo, It will fix the pitching issue with the tracks, When it was enabled, The beat of the track would go faster but tune wouldnt change, So disabling Master Temp will alow the tune to change as you change the pitch, Much like you do with vinyl when the pitch goes higher, Oh and btw, I did a live set of my own live on the net last night on the TranceAddict Chatroom using the AtomMix, Purhaps I'll do another one and post the link to the live stream tonight.
