if i remember right Nalgene makes fish aqariums, the ones in use in labaratories where the scientists do lab experinence on fish.

i know cos i remember the name Nalgene from these fish tanks that i used to clean at a labaratory for $$$ when i was like 16

Polycarbonate can shatter like any material. It just happens to be much less prone to it than other transparent plastic materials like acrylic. It will shatter if you have heated the material upto near its melting point and allowed it to cool again easier than if you have not done so.

Polycarbonate sheets are used in many places since it is what is known as "bulletproof" glass. It is fun stuff....we actually use a pneumatic stapler at work to attach up to 1/4" thick polycarbonate to items we are building.

It is über expensive though. A 4x8 foot sheet of 1/2" polycarbonte runs in the neighborhood of $250.
