i am homesick as well. i moved far away from my family and i miss them a lot. fortunately my mom and dad are visiting this week. it's hard cause i like it here a lot but it isnt really home since my family isnt here.
I slowly moved off, first I went to school 3 hours away, which is not bad since I could easily drive back whenever I wanted.
now after 4 years of that I moved to the other side of the country. But I think more of it has to do with not knowing anybody here. I met people and go to class with them but it ain't the same.
but this is the better path imo. gotta get away from them sometime.

My mom sent me a box of chocolates and it made we feel soo home sick
Well, when your parents die, then there's a void left in your life you can never really fill. If you have a significant other or hopefully are married even with kids, then you will establish bonds which will tide you through the loss. It's inevitable and happens to everyone. Called the Circle of Life or some such shit. Until time passes, you might even bolt upright in the middle of the night unless you make peace with the loss. Be nice to mom and dad as long as they're around...
