and I didn't get it yet, since I really can't be bothered with ANOTHER thing to carry in my pocket, beside my debit card, credit card and some cash/change. plus I usually shop at places that don't accept dexit, so wtf is the point?!

i think when Dexit is accepted in places like the TTC, vending machines, and parking meters people will start using it more widely .. i just hope that comes sooner than later

I love dexit.

The cost is negligible and it saves me time. Anything that saves me time - I will use.

Dexit transaction takes 2 seconds, debit takes longer. It has nothing to do with being lazy - it has everything to do with valuing my time and not willing to waste my valuable time.

I've seen some debit terminals who aren't conntected to a dedicated ATM network have to dial-up, wait, authorize, send back, receipt, etc. Dexit is always 2 seconds.

not to mention that those 2 seconds add up when ur queuing up hundreds of people on any given day at a food court

Yes, to do 100 people with Dexit - it takes ~200 to ~250 seconds (3 to 4 minutes).

To do 100 people with a non ATM network connected debit machine you're looking at 2000 to 2500 seconds (30 to 40 minutes).

Sounds like a significant difference to me.

Do a quick study of volumes at downtown foodcourts (Scotia Plaza for example) and you'd easily have over 100 transactions (cash, debit, dexit or otherwise) per hour at most kiosks.

LOL im not against dexit. I just find it amusing how people complain about a few lousy seconds. I see it daily at quiznos too. People need to slow down. The fact that you can get a sub at peak hours in less than 5 minutes with the amount of work that goes into it is amazing in itself. Same with any other type of food.

But my big question about dexit is what if you lose it? Are you insured? Otherwise if it works well bring it on.

Fast food is a volume business. The more people you get through the door, in the less time - the more money you make.

Of course Tim's is doing more business.

From 11:30 to 13:30 Scotia Plaza has ~5,000 people come through - if someone leaves your line to go to another because people are pissing around with debit machines and cant transact fast enough - that's lost money. Same is said if employees are pissing around talking shop. Lunch time = crunch time.

I think in a low volume, low competition (not many other options) environment - Dexit probably isn't a viable option.

In a high volume, multiple-option environment - it's crucial to be able to not only produce the foodstuffs quickly - but also transact and move customers quickly - Dexit is perfect for this environment.

if you lose it you call, just like credit card and they send a new tag to you with the value. If somebody used up your credit too bad so sad for you.

$100 daily limit on tag
i would never put more then 100 on it...... not that i even use it.
