funny you should say that about the generator party outside the city, I'm gonna be planning for one of those, I can get pretty much everything together except 2 good generators , but I should be able to sort that out, as for the TA house party, we could just all go and crash some 15yr olds party, lock the kid in his room, and set the both up in the kitchen..
I would throw the TA house party at my house, but last time I did that, 150 people got out of hand, but I'm thinking about throwing another exclusive party, and having it in my garden, because its big, then set a DJ setup on my deck overlooking the garden, and then rent out one big ass sound system, but I'll see how this all goes.

Oh yea, the party does sound good, and I would be down for DJing, just have to brush up on my skills, pretty crap right now, not djed for 3 weeks, dam kitchen building .

I'm in there like swimwear... Wherever it goes down.

Actually we are open to any ideas for parties that anyone wants to bring to us, I think some of your ideas are great. By all means come down and talk to me about it any Saturday, we'll have a drink and throw some ideas around, but we can make it happen no problem.

I understand anyone who thinks that Sambuca is a "hole"... yeah you're right, its not that great, however I really dont think it's any worse than the Warehouse which is not exactly the classiest place in town either. Yes Sambuca looks like a bad roadside diner, but I'm sure you will all agree that it's all about the music and the good people. It was our belief that trance fans in Calgary would be really glad that there was now some place to go before after hours to hear the music they love. Where are all the trance fans? Where is the unity ? Where is the support? We've done well our first three weekends so far, but I know there are still alot more trance fans out there that haven't even bothered to check Drunken Monkey out yet. I know that it takes time for word to get around, and people to get around to checking it out, but trust me it's worth your time, so get going this Saturday. Our Djs are amazing, plus we play guest Djs almost evey week, and all the Drunken Monkey staff and regulars are awesome! It's an opportunity for any Dj regardless of whether you are a "name" or not to get played...I am accepting demo cds every week and the schedule is booking up. If you are a DJ and want to play, bring me a CD, its that simple, we actually will book you. I really hope that people are above not going to support a night of amazing DJ talent just because they think the venue is ugly. Everyone always says that it's all about the music, so prove it.

Just as an aside note, you may be interested to know that Sambuca is getting rennovated end of May, early June. At this point it should get easier to get people to come down as the place will look great. It's unfortunate that so many people judge a book by its cover....anyways, Once completed our Grand re-opening party will feature an international Dj of "superstar" quality. Look for this to happen mid June.

In the meantime we have to battle the fact that the Sambuca Lounge is a "hole" and try to get people down for the music and the Dj's and the cheap drinks...$2.75 all night this Saturday!! So I challenge all of you to come down this Saturday, say hi to me and throw your ideas at me.

Honestly my first time in Sambuca was the first drunkenmonkey saturday a few weeks back. I had a bunch (about 8) non trance loving friends with me who said "This place is actually pretty chill." It may not be the cleanest or the trendiest place in the world, but neither is the warehouse =P

At Sambuca you've got a GREAT bunch of people, bartenders, promoters, dj's, ALL who want to support local DJ's and the local trance scene. I think there would be nothing better than to see all the trancers in one place once a week, regardless of how "shitty" that place itself might be. It's the people and the music that make the night and so far saturdays at Sambuca have been a lot of fun.
