Well there wasn't much magic in the books either.
Now I don't know about games, but you can't tell the story of any full lenth book(novel) effectively when making it into a movie unless you follow the book page by page almost exactly, somehow. Otherwise you get what Peter Jackson made of LOTR, removing major events from the books and adding major events of his own. This might have worked on more amateurish works such as Cat In The Hat or Harry Potter, but LOTR is a classic. And even with all of PJ's crazy editing, a lot of people still didn't know what the hell was going on for most of the movie(s).
