Re: What happened to.. Paul Van Dyk

I am going to see him for the first time ever on Oct 13 in Houston Texas and I am really really hoping he will play a uplifting set. My personal favorite set I have heard from him is Innercity 2000 - part 2, the tracks on there are just so freakin great. Hopefully Van Dyk will come through for me.

I'm finally going to get to see PvD on November 24th at the DC Armory. It's hard not to have such high expectations of him as I know that he is pretty much the most incredible DJ on the planet.

No matter what he spins, I'm positive that it will be a good time.

PvD used to kick our asses at Twilo with his 6hr + sets...he would spin all sorts of electronica as everyone else stated. He's great...he had his off nites...as all dj's do...but for the most part he was ON...in a big way. His conrtol of the crowd was amazing. I have yet to see a crowd react to a DJ the way Twilo's crowd used to respond to PvD. A truly unique experience!

I agree 100%. I saw PvD at Twilo 7 times and his 7-8 hours sets there were nothing short of religious experiences.

Best set I've EVER heard in my life by anyone:

Paul van Dyk @ Twilo on July 21, 2000

He played from 2 - 10 am. and had us all in tears...he was and is GoD.

Last Feb 9, 2001 at Twilo was the highest attendance for any event ever at the club....something like 7100 people throughout the night and the club only has a 3200 capacity.

He plays breaks, progressive house, acid house, disco house, epic trance, hard trance, techno, tech-trance....almost EVERY fucking genre of electronica is sampled for a good bit in his sets and they flow seamlessly one into the other.

Damn I miss Twilo. I even saw him at GC2000, and at Gatecrasher, UK and at Creamfields last summer....here are some of my pics.

he is GoD!!!!!!!!!

Wow twilochik I couldnt agree more. Last nite I was out with some friends and I was reminiscing on all the amazing PvD Twilo journeys. Remembering the line to get in, the shoving thru the little metal detector and finally the walk down the dark hall to the stairs that open into the well-lit side room. You see all the faces and happy people, moving and dancing and finally you get to the main room. YOU ARE THERE-the low-ceilinged, dark, intimate home that is Twilo. You hug, greet and meet up with all your friends. You dance and move to the phat beats of Luis Diaz and the excitement and anticipation would grow. You could feel it in the air and the increasing buzz from the people filling the club. WHAT A PLACE!!!!!!! Soon you couldnt contain yourself with all the excitement, just hoping for a glimpse of the GoD known simply as PvD that would result in an eruption and explosion of cheer and screaming...I could go on forever like those nights did. Those who experienced that wonder know what I am talking about. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE PVD JOURNEY AT TWILO--7 HOURS IN HEAVEN.

its hard to define, prog trance is deeper and often "slower" than uplifting trance.
and you have to think of digweed or sasha, cause they PLAY PROG. TRANCE!
