It's funny how everyone associates Don Cherry with his TV personality. All of you calling him white trash and saying he can rot in hell, you do realize that the whole macho in-your-face idiocy is an act, right?

His act's gone downhill, I admit, but there's no reason for the violent hostility.

Also, 100% agree with TrueToTheCrew here, people should not be booted from the airwaves for being politically incorrect. Save the Sensitivity Training for the Americans, I thought we had a little thing called freedom of speech in this country (which actually does apply here, since the CBC and CRTC are government-owned!)

Well, I don't think there is anything wrong with being politically incorrect sometimes... but Cherry is not politically incorrect - he just talks a lot of bullshit that people don't like to hear (like when he talks shit about Russians, or soccer for that matter).

Cherry is right most of the time. He was right with more french and more europeans wearing visors (confirmed in the star the next week).
He was the person who called for the different type of glass with give, which saved a ton of injuries. Don is HNIC and so is Ron and they should both be kept. Don knows hockey, just most of you people think he crosses the line. He is right about fighting as well, he is right about the state of the game where too many players are using sticks as weapons. Shall I go on, the political crap was over the line but the man knows the game, whether you agree with it is a different matter.

There are far more important issues in hockey than visors. take him out and put pierre mcguire (someone who really does know hockey) or anyone else. id even say put roenick or bret hull when they retire even though they arnt canadian theyd be alot more entertaining and interesting and just as outspoken.
