1 hard drive instead of 200 cds/vinyls.
so isnt it possible to do that? isnt it better?
That's what final scratch is. It's where you use software to hook up songs from a laptop on a hard drive to real vinyl using turntables that allow you to play the songs off the laptop on the two vinyl.

haha I guess I have to tone it down seeing as I just made the biggest ass out of myself on this board.ever.
I'm a noob DJ, but for my set-up I have 2 turntables, and I plan on getting a CD Player, but I dont want to do laptop DJing, it just doesn't feel right. If the song you're spinning ain't out on vinyl, just load it on a CDR, why go with the laptop, other than some of that fancy shit on there which I don't know about.

not every setup has a good pair of CD decks. Final scratch unit is simply the A/D convertor, 2 vinyls that have digital time stamps that the laptop recognizes and plays the corresponding digital audio.
Final scratch is the solution for setups that ONLY have turntables. Not all the clubs have proper setups so this is why Stanton decided to come up with a solution.

how about a memory stick with 100's/1000's of tracks that you can plug in anywhere you go ...? no heavy carrying of vinyls, just fits in your back pocket!
...but no matter how good digital sound is, i still like the warm, original sound you get off vinyls. besides i like watching a dj behind a set of decks rather than a comp!

With Final Scratch, all of your songs go on the hard drive.

good idea but you still have to have the final scratch software on a computer hooked up as well... so you're going to be carrying around a laptop anyway

The biggest revolution for Dj'ing was the introduction of the CDJ 1000, IMO. They are starting to work out any bugs, and it's only a matter of time before they incorporate a built in hard drive that will allow you to upload MP3's. This will be great for the "travelling" Dj, who can carry around a laptop full of music, and then upload it directly to the player. I honestly feel that this is the wave of the future.
There's nothing wrong with Final Scratch at all. I don't think that the interface is as good as the CDJ 1000 though. Does anyone know if final scratch allows you to create loops on the fly?
Another great little option for CD Dj's is the new Technics option. If you guys haven't seen it, check it out:
CD dj'ing is huge right now, and I think that this will be where most innovations in DJ'ing come.. but hey, this is just my opinion.
Whatever happens, it is nice to see that DJ'ing is growing and the innovations are amazing.

i dont like the idea of laptop djing, for 2 reasons.
1: i bought a pair of techs in january, so i want to be able to use them for a while.
2: CDs/Mp3s dont sound as nice and think as vinyl.
