ok i'm a firm believer in being an entrepreneur and here is what my partner(best friend) and I have done...

My partner and I ran a catering business for events in TO, Miss, and Brampton for a few years...decided it was time to change from a seasonal business

So we split for a while to rethink. Partner worked in computers and I Freelanced Construction/legal Contracts

We ventured into Janitorial....for 2 yrs and it was good for a while but too much bs if your a subcontractor (little guy always gets screwed by both the contractor and the govt.)

Now we split again...Partner's back at computers and me...well I'm taking a short refresher in accounting so I can start as a virtual business consultant/assistant for small businesses. I figured I learned a lot from our little ventures...enuf to help small ones

My partner and I have a long term goal (in 5 yrs) to gtf out of TO (way too many hi taxes & expenses) and start a restaurant--seeing as the partner grew up running them for the folks till dad died Intestate (without a will)....govt took all the properties...3mils worth...partner was a minor so part of monies govt. had to return went to mom (who was split from dad for over 10 years)...mom escaped jurisdication (Canada has no reciprocity with Europe) and ran off with it after paying off the lawyer...true story

That is the short and sweet of it.
Is it worth it to be self-employed?...Hell Yes!
Why would anyone wanna help someone else reap the benefits of their skills when they can do that for themselves

I've been in subcontracting for a year and a half now, and it looks pretty promising so far. Like everything else out there, it's got it's obstacles, but what it also has is colossal potential. I've got some ideas for things that to my knowledge, haven't been done before, and i look forward to implementing them soon.

i guess it depends on how good a contractor your working for. We got unlucky...

you in same janitorial or other?

Very interested in hearing your ideas...can you share or is it privy for now?
