i guess the processor can give the sound card too many instructions and it can cause problems. I've had to reformat 3 times already

You only really need 2 channels for basic mixing. Each channel can accommodate two inputs. also, your needles will make a huge difference. Your crap stanton needles are what bottlenecking your soundquality. I suggest you invest some money into some decent needles like shure whitelabels and your sound quality will improve drastically.
