Sex doesn't have to change anything, it's just a fun thing to do... a very fun thing. Ofcourse this depends on both your and your partners opinions, so i guess in this case you have to feel your way forward and make the move when it feels right. But a week isn't necessarily too early per se.

It has to do with how close you feel with each other.
If there is understanding between you to(meaning, being able to understand what the other person is saying)and everything is done without even wondering, with the flow, then it's just going to be normal. If there is some special type of communication with her, the sex part won't take long to come.
What I'm not so sure about is, whether she feels you like a boyfriend or something more than somebody with whom she spends her time with and likes it. She does seem like she fancies the whole deal, but I'm not sure if she would like it to be on a girlfriend/boyfriend level. There seems to be some kind of a chemistry between you two though.
The age shouldn't worry you, maybe this shows a little something about you(being able to communicate with older people->having a good sense of what's going on around you). Concerning the sex part.. I say, don't rash(or is it rush? damn it, i confuse it). Let it flow. Don't push for anything. After all, with her being older, sex will come in a natural way.

There nothing you have to prove to them. Sex is something that's between you and her. Has nothing to do with your friends. Don't respond to their teasing. I've had some of this as well.
