Yeah I agree they were a bit better after the sending off as it was just before half time, although towards the end of the game you could see the Russian players were shattered. I don't think the Russians ever got into their stride though, the Portuguese were first to react to every ball and closing down their options constantly, a task made easier by the sending off. Couldn't really blame Russia for their long ball tactics at times, whenever they tried to surge forward in numbers they were hit on the break giving their defenders a very busy night.

ah, forgot to add, i thought this was a really slow and boring match. we may have beaten them easily, but it's going to be much harder against spain, honestly i don't think we're going to qualify

I've been disappointed with Portugal so far but I think/hope they will raise their game against Spain. Don't want to see the hosts go out yet but I also don't want to see Spain drop out. Looks certain one of them will though.

i think portugal probably will qualify, though that may be wishful thinking, i'm half Portuguese and half English so have two teams to cheer on although it is looking doubtful for both sides.

But Portugal should do well against Spain, playing Spain will give them a chance to show what they have got, as we saw against Russia, they can do it

yeah, good changes like I said above too

about the gk sent off, the first impression i got was that he did touch the ball, but in the replays it seems that he didn't. if he actually did, i think the rules say that he has to be sent off. why? i got no idea, stupid rule, if any other player on the field touches the ball with the hand they get a yellow, why should the keeper get a red?

1. i also thought he must have touched it, than in the replay one can clearly see that he hasn't STOPPed it with the handm but only when the ball already lies still, he may have brushed it (but that didn't help anyway)... so a too hard decision, but IMO impossible for referee to see (we need TV proove

ANY player being last line of defence gets a RED card when doing a foul to avoid a goal...
and most often the gk is in that situation
