completely agree with mystery,,
the more effort you put in, and the more time you put in,
you get better results, and you learn to sidestep the 'limitations' of reason.
and btw, working in a limiting system can help you learn alot,,
you can always expand those limits, by increasing your knowledge

essentially,, i believe a limiting system can only make you more creative over time, not the other way around.

so, in conclusion: yay to reason!!

i never felt that reason was a limiting system, actually i switched from vst to reason, and i felt i had more freedom and sounds.

the way Reason looks, the rack, sequencer is just so cool, gives me so much apettit to make music, the unique sound of subtractor, it felt like all i needed was in Reason.

Man this s great advice I had to bookmark this page, I think the best idea heard was to just try all of them out, because I cnt really get a sense of which one is better although Im leaning towards Cubase but Im still not totally convinced because Ive always heard Reason was best of them all, although, as I said earlier excuse my noobism, wat is this VSTi that everyone speaks of and what are its advantages over reason? I mean I looked at the sticky of the best VSTi's and I was totally clueless. Also wat is a midi controller, and what is it going to do for me, the reason I ask these questions is because I am very close to purchase time and I want to make sure I get what I need the first time. Also I must concur Ive heard some of Mystery's stuff and it was damn good, and lastly I want to make progressive and some uplifting stuff is there anything that I will need to better fit these styles?

midi controller is a keyboard taht you can hook up to your computer to controll your synths. a vsti is a virtual instrument aka softsynth
the thing with softsynths is there are MANY MANY MANY ones to fit all sorts of your liking. now heres something else reason is not at all better then cubase thats like comparing a pinto to a porsche gt2. honestly if your really into and going tos tick with it get cubase and buy a midi controller like is tated i suggest the maudio oxygen line or radium search Ebay to see exactly what it is and to pick which one youd like. vstis are good and theres enough of them that you wotn ever get tired of trying them out and seeing which ones are cool and shit

usually a software has it's own synths, fx devices..

Fruity

3osc
Wasp
Simsynth
delay, reverb etc..

not sure about cubase

Logic has ES1 and 2 and ESX i think as synths and probably few more

These are the synths that are included in a software, and the ones in fruity arn't that great for a making tunes, they ok for FX and small things though, the ones in cubase i have no clue, the ones in Logic are pretty nice..Sean Tyas makes great sounds out of ES devices.

Now there are also synths or samplers or FX devices (like delay, reverbs, distortion etc.) that don't come with software packages, those you have to buy allone, and a VST device can run them in the software you use.

Reason doesn't have a VST device like that, it's a closed software with 2 synths 2 samplers (1 basic and 1 advanced which can layer samples) 1 Drum machine and 1 loop/slice player.(check out the site of Reason for the FX devices)

Now here is the important question, have you ever worked with other sequence software? if no i suggest Fruity for you, the sequence/arrangement window is really easy and when your good enough you can buy VST synths to make pro tunes( you really need VST synths to achive good tunes with fruity)

Are you a patient guy? willing to read and learn alot about how to master 2 synths and create all possible sounds with them, then i recommand Reason, the sequencer ain't hard also, but the thing is with Reason, you really need patiance.

I'd recommand reason tbh, refills are easy to find + everything you need is init imo.

At the end of the day, it's not about what the best software/setup is... it's about what the best software/setup is for YOU

I've heard tracks from people from other production boards that have a gear list bigger then my arm, but their tracks have been complete cack. If you are a good producer, then that will show through in your tracks - no matter what you use.
Although I will admit that hardware synths have a warmth and depth that soft synths lack, due to the rate softsynths are developing its only a matter of time before they catch up.

To answer the original question on wheather Reason is enough to create a 'Pro' Track (whatever that is ) the answe is YES

As to wheather it's better or worse then Floops (as is asked a lot on here) I downloaded the demos of both before choosing Reason. Both have their + & - points, in the end I chose reason simply because I felt more comftable with the layout (see my first point in this post.) Both are great programs - it's just a case of finding one for U.

All that is without mentioning Cubase, Buzz, Logic ect ect
