Nice article

Italy lost, there was no collusion or match-fixing, they just lost.
Italy didn't do enough in the opening matches to go through. They definitely stuffed up the Sweden game, but that was their own fault. Italy has the game in the bag, but then Trappatoni made some terrible substitutions and they gave away a goal.

I was very sad when they were eliminated, but life goes on. It is pretty sad they way they are carrying on, now that they have been eliminated. They just can't seem to accept it and bow out gracefully.

To suggest that the other match was fixes is insulting to Denmark, Sweden and the game of football itself, and they should be ashamed. Anyone with two eyes that watched the game can see that both teams fought very hard until the very end, and it was definitely a good contest.

Stop whinging Italy

I don't believe it's possible to fix a football match, you'd have to bribe way too many people, all of whom are very highly paid sportsmen, and even then it's a long shot.

However, when it was 2-1 to Denmark, even with just a couple of minutes to go, it seemed like absolutely everybody knew it was going to be 2-2, there was certainly no doubt in my mind. Before the game Swedes and Danes were keen to build this up as a fierce rivalry but many of the fans in the stadium held flags before kickoff saying "2-2", some even wrote it on their forehead. I remember one said "2-2 nordic victory, bye bye italy". This was the heated derby we had all been promised. Yeah, right! Bookmakers were offering their lowest odds ever for a 2-2 scoreline and so many people backed that result that some bookmakers stopped taking bets on it.

I don't for one second believe they could or would set out for a 2-2 game. Both teams certainly went for the win. But when it was 2-1 with a couple of minutes left the situation changed. It seemed like the whole stadium wanted a 2-2 draw and that's what they got, and I have to say that the defending and goalkeeping for that final goal were shockingly bad.
