i'm not the only saying it was a boring game... agh.

i have to agree with you on this game, but the extra time was ok, exciting enough.

Ok well, the referee has a huge influence on the game. I found today that he gave too many needless fouls in midfield and didnt play several advantages. Even forced the players to take the free kick on the exact spot at times. I think Ljunberg once slammed it down in frustration as if saying "there you go!".

The referee was crap. You can't expect fluidity if every single jump or nudge was called a foul.

I hate penalty shootouts because the only sides I follow (Newcastle and England) have a poor record, particularly Newcastle who have had 15 shootouts and won only 4.

However I can't think of a more suitable or more exciting way to end a game after 2 hours of football. It's virtually impossible to be a neutral watching a penalty shootout because they're so tense, and when you're a genuine supporter of one of the sides every second is torture. I can't think of a more tense spectacle in sport, some people have to leave the room when it goes to penalties because they can't watch them. Some people can't even listen to them on the radio! Losing on penalties, for me, is worse than losing 5-0 in normal time.
