i make french toast every weekend since it's yummier and easier than pancakes in my opinion...and here is my recipe (i've been told is the best). hehe. i make this on saturday mornings and store the leftovers for sunday morning breakfast. hehe.

3/4 cup milk
3 eggs
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
Dash of cinnamon (add desired amount)
Some bread (about 8 slices)

Ok, so first, beat milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, salt and cinnamon together with wire whisky thing. make sure your lightly greased pan or griddle is hot. to make sure just take a couple drops of water and see if they bubble up and jump around when you sprinkle them on the pan/griddle. anyway, now take the bread and dip both sides into mixture. then put on pan/griddle for about 4 minutes (eyeball it) on each side. Voila!

p.s. the vanilla is a key ingredient in french toast in my opinion

That looks like the one I use without the fancy sugars and nutmeg. Joy of Cooking?

I bet one could make a really nice indian style french toast.

2 eggs
1 tsp ground coriander seeds
1 tsp toasted mustard seed
1 pinch gound cardimom
1 pinch tumeric
some grated ginger
1 tsp chilli paste
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt

Too much effort i think....

Maybe Thai style?

2 eggs
1 tsp green curry paste
1 tsp fish sauce
coconut milk to taste
green chilli to taste

Italian style?
2 eggs
Grated parmesan to taste
2 tsp sundried tomato paste
2 tsp dried basil
2 slices italian bread

Fry in olive oil

I thought the point of French Toast was to be sweet.

Those just sound ... not like breafast food whatsoever.
