i still don't think this revenue structure will ever truly work .. nonetheless i'll still pay to see a DJ i like or purchase their albums on CD/DVD ..

anyone know where its possible to download whole albums or compilations? its nuisance to have to chase tracks one by one, especially when not knowing what you want.

i think it'll be sweet if armin, for example, made available his universal religion 2k4 cd for this pay per download kinda thing

i'll be honest that right now i get lots of my music for free...but the reason for that is because i don't use vinyl and you can't buy individual songs anyother way...and its a hastle to look all over the internet stopping left and right to find someone to give your money to for an mp3 you can quickly get for free.

on the flip side...these artists deserve our support and $1 per song would be a great system...

this is what i'd like to see:

a system like napster dedicated to only electronic music.
always with the latest material in 192 high quality.
90C going to the artist and 10C to the orgization keeping such a wonderful service available.
subheadings and an easy to use interface to get exactly what you want/and a preview so you don't waist your money on crap (because it will still cost between $14-20 to compile a cd).

if this system came into existance, i would hope the riaa to kill out every free downloading source to finally get our music community back on track so great artists can make great music and make the money they deserve for it.

but for now i will get free music, not because i'm cheap or want to screw artists, but for me its basically the only method of getting what i want. and at least i can give them my money when they come to town to dj (for now, unfortunately the ones who don't dj are SOL)

well said.
I wouldn't download/purchase an album through an online site, but I'd most likely go out to buy the actual CD/DVD as well.

are there sites which let you download the WAV? i think this would be really good, because then rather than buying a cd, and having it shipped you could just pay for the WAV and burn it yourself.

I'm not positive, but I think that Beatport will ship you a wav cd (but not let you download), and EDM Digital will let you download FLAC files. I haven't looked into the others yet, though. If I'm buying music (not on vinyl), I'd much rather get a FLAC or wave than an mp3.

I really do hope that support for these sites increases, and more and more labels sign on.

Yes. This would be so convenient.
