the whole point of James Bond is he is supposed to be one...British...two...sauve and charismatic. it has to be a british dude.

Brosnon was a fantastic bond...he had everything the role was meant to portray just like connery.

i'm not that familiar with that many british actors, but i'll say right now if anyone of the people listed so far were the next bond...the role would be destroyed.

anyway, i guess i can't talk much unless i post a name right? so really the only good male british actor i know of (i'm sure their more) that i could possibly think might be able to fill the role would be

Colin Firth

my ex-girlfriend has a huge crush on him hehehe...

You are 100% right...he needs to be British. I have no idea who Colin Firth is, but I'm going to look him up.

he is always in a lot of british romance comedy's...he usually plays that dorky (yet somehow sexy) british dude hehehe...

so if he could play the role seriously...i think he could probably do it.

other than that i agree with you that they will probably get an unknown guy to play the role...

Brad Pitt is in my top 3 of all time favorite actors, but I don't know if it would be right...he is not British. He would be incredible for the role though. He is just an amazing actor and he would have a hell of a pull at the box ofice.

i'll agree with that. brad pitt is probably my favorite male actor. i mean, everyone knows he's a good looking dude and all, but he really has done a terrific role in almost all of his movies.

like you said...i don't think he could pull off james bond though...

hahaha! Ok...he is my favortie actor too. I figured people would flame saying..."you said that because he is HOT" so I said top 3.

But seriously...he can ACT! No one can argue that. He is brilliant!

.......

YOU JUST LIKE HIM CAUSE HE'S HOT!!!!

in actuality...most guys that i know definitely acknowledge brad pitt as a good actor...even though we're all jealous that the ladies swoon all over him. the man, has some acting skills. i didn't really think it did a very good job in troy though...but i think that was probably the directing and writers fault...

While I know that everyone says "he has to be British blah blah" one must remember that the first two Bonds were a Scotsman (Connery) and an Australian (Lazonby), the fourth was Welsh (Dalton) and the current Bond is an Irishman (Brosnan). So at this point only 1 of 5 (Moore) have actually been English (which I think most people consider as "British" even though you "could" say that Ireland and Scotland and Wales are all "British" because they are in the Isles).

It is hard to say who will be the next Bond. I figure it will be someone like Christian Bale (welsh) or Ewan McGregor (scottish). Though both are now in super hero esque roles with Bale being the new Batman and Ewan still having one more stint as Obi-Wan to go. Of course, someone closer to their 40s might be more the type they are looking for, but when Brosnan was being courted for the role in the early 80s, he was not any older than Ewan McGregor, Chrisitan Bale or Jude Law are now.

that's a good point. maybe we shouldn't lump all of those places together as british, but my point is...he can't be an american...that's just stupid. i also think that it should be someone a little older than the young actors you named. i think that both pierce brosnan and sean connery both had an older maturity to them that allowed them to pull it off. perhaps those people you named could be bond...just not the next one...they should give them a few more years to get a little older...

Mike Myers! a.k.a. Austin POWERS!!! He's British and has a helluva sauve and chraismatic persona

Okay I been hearing it's either Colin Farrel, Ewan McGregor or Clive Owen (check him out in BMWfilms). I think Clive is the better the of em b/c he looks like he has an edge about him, IMO.

I know we're searching for British answers, but...what about George Clooney?
