I can't beleive that someone would think that this shirt is funny or a good idea, I think that it absolutely horrible!!

I support your decision...but I'd have supported your decision for an abortion too.

Having said that...you (apparently) were in a position to care for your daughter and presumably (I don't know you) give her a good home with a caring parent (or parents if you're with someone). So I personally am glad that you made the decision that you did

Unfortunately, if abortion was not an option, some kids would not grow up under such good circumstances. The last thing I want to see is a baby born with fetal alcohol syndrome or with some other disease thanks to their crack-whore mother who got pregnant when she turned a trick so that she could score more rock (to use an intentionally extreme example).

I'm not personally offended by the shirt, but I'd question the motives of anyone who chose to wear it...because it would upset a lot of people, particularly those who made the (hopefully) very difficult decision to have one. As a joke, it's tasteless...as a political statement, I suppose it's defendable, if nothing more.

I 100% agree with you. Before I found out I was pregnant, I was almost against abortion. I was in the frame of mind that it was a life that someone was teminating. But then, I was put in the position where the option of an abortion was right in front of me. I was 17 so confused, and I didn't know whether I was making the right decsion. But in the end I did make the absolute right decison by not having an abortion. But I also support the women that do have abortions. I think that if someone does have an abortion, it is for a good reason. Like you said if a crack whore got pregnant, why tourtue a child with all the problems that they would endure growing up.

BTW Thanks!!

BRILLIANT! It's the good old-fashioned Liberal practice of making a political statement by dodging any real intelligent debate and forcing it down everybody else's throat instead! BLEEDING-HEART PROTESTERS UNITE!

Here's another brilliant question for you: would you be spouting the same nonsense if the shirt was pro-life instead of pro-choice? If you saw a shirt that said "Abortion is murder" or "I wouldn't let my pregnant 13-year-old daughter have an abortion and now she's living in the slums with her kid learning the meaning of personal responsibility", would you be singing the same song?

What if you saw someone wearing a shirt with a photo of a 40-year-old man blowing his load on a 12-year-old girl's face? Would you consider that an effective way to spark intelligent debate on a subject that is hard to bring up (child pornography), and finish off by claiming that whether or not it's in good taste really depends on the individual?

Don't you love the double-standard in this age... left-wing rants in favour of abortions, homosexuality, affirmative action and feminism are "free speech", but right-wing rants against those things are "hate speech." Makes you wonder just exactly how "free" our speech really is.

P.S. For the record, this is not an argument against the right to abortion - I am in fact pro-choice, with some reservations (age of consent, etc.). I just think that the shirt is not only in bad taste but also ignorant, and that this "defense" of it is ridiculous.

um...how is this a LIBERAL thing?

I *love* it when YOU PEOPLE (lol) insinuate that this is a "Liberal" way of thinking and that some imaginary double-standard exists in the minds of Liberals. I'm a Liberal supporter...I think the shirt is lame...equally as lame as a "Abortion is murder" shirt. happy?

btw...child pornography is HARDLY on the same level as abortion. I don't think you'll find too many people, Liberal, Conservative, or Socialist, who will argue their support for child pornography. There exists no "debate" as there is with abortion. poor comparison...try again

I agree with you though...it's definitely in poor taste...and if that's someone's best way of sparking debate, that speaks volumes about their level of tact and compassion towards people who have been more closely touched, one way or another, by the issue of abortion.

While I mentioned the tact, I don't think 'debate' would be the word as much as, 'shock value' that the person obviously wants to create; or they're just as bright as a brick...

Are you honestly trying to imply that pro-choice is not a liberal viewpoint? Are you also then going to say that feminism, affirmative action, drug decriminalization, gay marriages, and the separation of church and state, are not liberal viewpoints?

I don't mean to turn this into a political rant but if this is what you believe then it epitomizes everything I hate about the Liberal-thinking world (which sadly is the vast majority of Canada) - they don't even know what Liberal means. Everything right of center is extreme, everything left of center is moderate.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but on the political scale, pro-choice is a left-wing (Liberal) policy/viewpoint.

Out of curiosity, who exactly is "YOU PEOPLE?" I can tell you right up front that I've taken several political tests and come out almost dead center on every one of them, and the majority of my friends say I'm "very hard to place" on that scale. So by "YOU PEOPLE", you mean what exactly, political moderates? Or just rationally-minded intellectuals who happen to take an interest in political issues? Or are you in fact insinuating, in grave error, that I'm some sort of extreme-right-wing nut?

No hard feelings Mark - by all rights you seem like an intelligent guy but I do think you fail to see your own bias on many occasions. I don't have any problem with people who are "left", as long as they don't indignantly deny it.
